VPN, Whats the Point

The problem I have is when I have my VPN on it doesn't let me have access to the site it says this site can't be reached. Even when I have the country set right, it's just getting annoying its doing it more and more. I thought the point of having a VPN was you you are anonymous and they can't tell who or where you are

Re: VPN, Whats the Point

Is it one specific site or all sites?   Many web sites do not allow access from known VPN IP addresses. They do this for copyright, legal, security, and political reasons. There is nothing a VPN provider can or should do to circumvent these legal protections. See this How to Geeks article.   https://www.howtogeek.com/403771/why-do-some-websites-block-vpns/

Re: VPN, Whats the Point

Hi, it's happening on different sites but it seems to be getting more and more. So if they can detect a vpn then surely more site's will block them. Bring me back to. What's the point of a VPN

Re: VPN, Whats the Point

A properly configured home network with a strong wifi password would not gain any additional security from a VPN. Where a VPN is needed is when using public wifi, especially if it is not protected by a password. Then all data from and returning to your device will be encrypted. So if there is a 'bad guy' sniffing that network, all they will see is gibberish.
