Unscheduled Updates

Periodically I get a notice from Norton that an update has been installed, but since drivers could not be closed, Norton protection is suspended until I reboot. It happened twice today. Why cannot I schedule when these updates are going to occur so they do not cause so much interruption?

I have been using Norton products for many years. But I am seriously starting to look for an alternative. And this issue may push me over the top.

Re: Unscheduled Updates

The only thing you can do is turn off Automatic LiveUpdates. That will stop them happening when you do not want them. But you will now be responsible to manually run LiveUpdates to keep your product up to date.

Re: Unscheduled Updates

I would if I could figure out where to do that. Norton seems to be hiding that setting.

Re: Unscheduled Updates

  1. Open your Norton device security product.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton product main window, click Settings.

  3. In the Settings window, click Antivirus.

  4. In the Antivirus settings window, click the Updates tab.

  5. In the Automatic LiveUpdate row, move the switch to On/Off.

  6. Click Apply.

  7. In the Settings window, click Close.

Note that you have to be signed into Windows with an admin account to see these settings.
