Norton Password Manager - "Blue Circle of Death"

This is my first time on the Forum and I'm certainly no computer geek, so please bear with me.

I'm using a laptop that has come to it's limits with Window 10 and the hardware is not compatible with Windows 11. That said I've been using Norton for several years and Norton Password Manager with Google Chrome for at least 5 years with no issues. 3 days ago I noticed a change in the NPW icon. It now has a yellow background with a red dot. I've read several comments posted on the forum and have discovered the probable connection to the program and the representation.

My issue however is while it was working well until 3 days ago now when I access the program I get the usual "Vault is Locked" message and when I access "Unlock Vault" it switches to what I discovered someone had called it - "The Blue Circle of Death" and it just constantly loops in trying to open the vault.

I've spent hours trying to find a solution but unfortunately un-successfully !

Any suggestions would be welcome even from Norton.

Hi,

The solution here is:

log out of all Password manager.
Log in with your Norton email account
Norton Password
Vault Password

Hi WayneJSteen,

Sorry for the difficulties you have been through.
Could you please share with us , what is the version of Password manager you have been updated to ?

  1. Open a new tab
  2. Type chrome://extensions
  3. Check the version of Norton Password Manager 
  4. It should be like 8.0.5.104 or 8.0.5.106 , as shown below

  5. Meanwhile as a workaround , Could you please remove the extension and add it again from chrome store , to see if that resolves your issue.This would require you to sign into your Norton Account and then enter your Vault password

Thanks Uma, For everyone’s info the version was 8.0.5.106 and Uma’s workaround by removing and re-adding the extension looks like it worked. Will do some more playing and hopefully advise later this evening. Many thanks to all

I got a message yesterday about a "NEW" PW Mngr update (Browser is MS Edge - Windows 11) Now instead of an 'autofill" and one-click entry it is now causing me to have to make 4 different clicks to get signed into ANY website. Certainly does NOT seem like any sort of improvement to me!

Hi Dwillinga, 

Sorry for the trouble you have with the new changes.
Incase if you want the login fill popup to appear automatically on site load , please follow the below steps

  1. Go to Norton Password Manager extension icon in the browser toolbar 
  2. In the popover, click on the hamburger menu
  3. Go to Settings 
  4. Click on the dropdown under "Automatically show autofill suggestions when:"
  5. Select "Site loads" option
  6. Now when you browse to any site the Login fill popup will appear automatically on site load.
