As a result of smart scan reporting I had outdated drivers, I purchased and started using Norton Driver Updater. My subscription covers multiple PC's. I have Win11 Pro, Win10Pro & Win7 on separate bootable drives all housed in one desktop.
Whether I boot up the Win 11Pro or Win10Pro and run the scan the result is the same for the Bluetooth driver.
When I ran Norton Driver Updater, all drivers identified as outdated were updated with the exception of one. Although the program indicated the new driver was downloaded, unpacked and updated, when I rescanned it advises that the driver was skipped. I've used multiple methods of trying to locate and update driver in device manager but not sure I know where to look. When I try, Windows advises I'm running the latest driver. I believe I located the correct file (by date) in Windows/System32/DriveStore/FileRepository directory and tried to point to the file location. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.
The Driver I'm trying to update is
Broadcom BCM20702 Bluetooth 4.0 USB Device
skipped version 22.214.171.1245
Current version 126.96.36.1990
(1) Reading on the internet it advises that it may not install because of a group policy setting in Windows. (On one occasion I believe there was a message from Windows to that effect).
(2) When I look at Event Manager, message reads,
Warning "Device USB\VID_0A5C&PID_21E8\5CF370999597 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match".
Information "Device USB\VID_0A5C&PID_21E8\5CF370999597 requires further installation".
I'm not sure how to proceed.
