Hello Geoff. Please give us a bit more information to work with: FWIW the directory you indicated is just less than 2 GB on the machine I am working from now.

- What is your version and build of Windows 10? 32 bit or 64 bit OS?

- What is your installed version of Norton 360 Deluxe, is it an older legacy version? Here is how to find that information:

- Have you had any indications / notifications of possible infection recently or in the past?

Re: Norton 360 Deluxe using excessive disk space on WIndows 10

My Norton 360 Deluxe version is 22.23.10.10.  My Windows version is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 22H2 build 19045.3693.  Norton gives no indications / notifications of possible infection.

BTW, how do I view the Norton 360 Deluxe version in the "My Norton" view?  I had to switch the "Classic" view to find the Norton version.

I take this is an answer to view the version in the "My Version" view.  Seems really strange that you can directly view the version the "My Version" view.

I'd still like to know why Norton is taking so much disk space.

Norton 360 Deluxe is using excessive disk space on my Windows 10 system; 203.28 GB out of 471.30 GB.  See the attached screen capture.  How can I fix this?

1) Norton Remove and Reinstall tool > Advanced Options > Remove Only
https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-download-install/current/solutions/v60392881

2) clear out Norton remnants before re-installing Norton 360
Please review: https://community.norton.com/en/comment/8363501#comment-8363501

3) Download and install your Norton device security
https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/norton-download-install/current/solutions/kb20090708112600EN

4) after clean Norton 360 install > run Norton LiveUpdate a few times + machine Restart (not Shut down) a few times. Repeat.  Norton 360 = 22.23.10.10 (at this time)

5) Review Norton Settings to your preference.  Create Backup Sets to your preference.

6) run Norton 360 Full Scan (once)

7) run Norton LiveUpdate + machine Restart (not Shut down)

I'd still like to know why Norton is taking so much disk space.

Did you drill down into the 0C55C096 folder to see where the GBs are?

fwiw ~ my 0C55C096 folder

Re: Norton 360 Deluxe using excessive disk space on WIndows 10

I have an update for everyone. Having some free time today, I got into my main/daily PC and looked for redundant files / folders related to Norton. Although not as drastic as Geoff, I see it is a bit troubling on my side as well. 4.8 GB Norton files on this PC.

Here are some screenshots for review, and please take note of the "directories" where these are located. There is also one directory related to Avast. I have NEVER had any Avast products installed on this PC. Since Norton owns Avast this also is related to Norton :

That Avast directory - This is .json file, what is a .json used for?

What is JSON file used for?

JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) is a standard text-based format for representing structured data based on JavaScript object syntax. It is commonly used for transmitting data in web applications (e.g., sending some data from the server to the client, so it can be displayed on a web page, or vice versa

Norton directories found with excess data and may be redundant as well. The files below are trash files that should be getting removed by Norton when product (NGC) update are installed and its restart is done.

This is where the OP has his issue with files accumulating. I have 1.61 GB in this folder. Thinking the Geoff should use Guru bjm_advice to do a removal only scenario. Then visit ALL the locations in these screenshot and delete anything found and perform another reboot before reinstalling his product.
