We heard your feedback and have committed to making some changes. Starting February 4, only customers who opt-in to using Norton Crypto will have the feature installed on their systems. Previously it was installed, but disabled by default. This change will be automatically implemented for all new customers beginning February 4 and rolled out to all existing customers the following week. We are also updating our FAQ with more information about how Norton Crypto works and the fees associated with it.

WHY ARE MAC 10.10.X AND 10.11.X BEING MOVED TO MAINTENANCE MODE?

  • Apple stopped supporting Mac OSX 10.10.x and 10.11.x from August 2017 and December 2018 respectively.

  • Unsupported versions of Mac OSX no longer receive software updates from Apple that improve Mac OSX stability and security.

SHA 2 Code Signing Support for Windows 7

Microsoft rolled out a security patch for Windows 7 to support signed binaries with SHA 2 certificates. Because software publishing certificates was deprecated on 15th April 2021, Norton will switch code signing to SHA 2 certificates. Product updates above 22.21.4 will not be applied on noncompliant computers. However, security updates will still be applied.
