'Failed to restore' backup problem
I recently had an external drive where I stored most of my documents and cad files die a horrible death. This should not have been a problem as I use Norton 360 to backup this drive to another external device. This backup seems to occur without any issues.
When I tried to restore the backed up files with N360 it could not find the backup, so I used Norton's portable restore tool to locate and run the backup. Initally all goes well, I select the files I want restored and the location I want them restored to, but when I start the restore I get a 'Failed to restore G:\name of file' message on EVERY file norton is attempting to restore. Clicking through the process to the end brings up the 'restore complete' screen, which shows all the files that a restore was attempted on with 'Invalid File' listed in the status column for EVERY file. i.e. I get nothing restored.
It makes no difference what type or number of files I try to restore, or where I try to restore the files to.
Currently very frustrated as these files were backed up because they are important!
Running Norton 360 v188.8.131.52 on Windows XP, SP3.
