Firefox 37.0.2 Crashes with NIS/Norton Toolbar

Firefox crashes on start-up after update to 37.0.2. Have been running NIS and Firefox on Windows XP for many months without any problems.

Norton Toolbar extension must be disabled in "safe mode" for Firefox to start. Firefox shows Norton Toolbar 2014.7.12.7 extension is loaded.

Anyone know what to do?

Re: Firefox 37.0.2 Crashes with NIS/Norton Toolbar

Hi ddautee:

There appears to be an issue with the Norton Toolbar v2014.7.12.7 crashing Firefox v37.x when the browser is closed (see phat monkey's thread Norton 360 Toolbar is Crashing Firefox on Close), but if your browser is crashing on startup your problem could be related to a corrupted Firefox installation or user profile.

Try a clean reinstall of Firefox as instructed in the Mozilla support article Firefox Keeps Crashing at Startup.  If the clean reinstall doesn't help try the next troubleshooting steps posted <here> in phat monkey's thread and let us know if FF v37.0.2 continues to crash on startup when your Norton Toolbar is disabled.

Re: Firefox 37.0.2 Crashes with NIS/Norton Toolbar

Tried a clean install of Firefox after cleaning up all the Uninstaller artifacts. Firefox now works fine in normal mode - AS LONG as I leave the Norton Toolbar plugin DISABLED. When ENABLED, Firefox crashes and will not start except in Safe Mode.

Thanks for trying to help, but someone at Norton or Mozilla has a problem here and I wish they would own up to it and get a fix out.
