Norton Family currently monitors YouTube videos on PC and iOS devices, not yet for Android devices yet. I'll pass your request to the management team.
Any idea when it will be available as kids uses this app on Android devices most, kids don't use browser to watch videos
I wouldn't say it was a request, more of a total requirement. I would say this software was only in beta phase as half the options that should be available don't work. You expect a company the size of Norton to be much better. - no android youtube -no android search logging -no Instagram message logging (kids main tool for chatting) - no way of seeing which apps they spent what amount of time on. Things either work on android, work on ios, or simply don't work. This has certainly affected my perception of the quality of Norton as a whole.
Hi J Singh,
Thanks for the inquiry. The Norton Family Android team is working on the features that are currently available to Windows and iOS devices, not yet for Android yet. You mentioned kids don't use browsers to watch videos. If they use YouTube app on the device, Norton Family Android has the ability to block/allow apps on the devices. For now, you can use the option to block YouTube app on the device.
Thanks for the valuable input. Product Norton Family for Window was released first. Since Android device came to the market later, so Norton Family for Android was developed later. Our Norton Family Android team is working hard adding more features for Android devices. Thanks for your patience!
Most pathetic excuse Norton! Android has been out since 2008, the backbone software windows currently runs on isn't that old (Base software infrastructure change since windows 7 to windows 10) you saying that 8 years isn't long enough to get a bit of software working? I've just found forums that are years old with the same problems, and your colleague said the same thing, "were working on it, thanks for your patience"..... After spending £30 on your software (sadly i too believed in Norton and didnt read reviews before hand) believing the promise of protection and logging your site offers, it is false advertising. I find that although it blocks websites fine, it doesn't log half of the data it should. It says my son going on one or two sites a day, even though he uses the Internet most of the day! I tested tbis on my phone, browsed to several sites, and a lot of the sires i tested didnt show up in the log. YouTube app doesn't get logged, blocking it is not an option! Web searches are not logged. Social feature just doesnt work. Time function doesn't work, just blank.... Location feature relies on GPS being on, other apps like Lookout doesn't, so why does Norton? There are more things that don't work than functions that do! I use Symantec endpoint at our business, now thinking of renewing with someone else as losing faith in Norton (£1k a year loss for you, can you imagine how much your company has lost from other disappointed customers like me due to shoddy half completed programs?). Would you care to share with your paying customers, the programmers road map your Android development team are working with so we can see when these fixes are planned to be released? I apologise if my message seems harsh, but when parents are falsely given the impression their child is now safe online because they have bought your product, you are neglecting child protection issues. Companies such as Norton who step forward to this task have a responsibility to carry out the protection it promises. I will copy this message to your complaints department too
Irritated regards James
Thanks for taking the time to write us.
I think we have two different things here:
1. Whether the desired feature is a wish or a must. To me it's also a total MUST and I'm frustrated that the product still doesn't provide monitoring of the youtube app on android.
2. What makes me angry is that you do not state that clearly in the product's help. In fact, the page https://family.norton.com/familysafety/help.fs?action=viewingVideoActivi... says "You can view the details of all the online videos that your child watched on the Norton Family website or your Android device." --> This either an error or a purposely misleading message. So please make it clear in the Help that you only support monitoring videos over the browser and that you explicitly don't support the android app !
This was one of the key features that made me trying the premium subscription. It's not very much encouraging to know the feature isn't coming anytime soon...
Thanks for the input. I think there are some misunderstanding here...."You can view the details of all the online videos that your child watched on the Norton Family website or your Android device." This is saying the parent can view the videos that are viewed by the child on Norton Family website or on the Android device using the parent mode.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
