Still not sign of latest firmware.

My Norton Core is still on firmware 170927_191 with no option to upgrade to latest firmware version 193. Resetting Core does NOT fix the problem. And this seems to happen quite frequently to me and many other Norton Core users based on comments here and in user product reviews online, making this a major security and customer relationship issue. Any ideas?

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Tony, I’m still stuck on version 191. There is no way to tell if my Core is even checking for updates, not any way to force it to get the firmware updates. I even tried switching to a different cable modem, which did NOT help. Is there ANY progress on fixing this? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Richard, I’m sure Norton is working on it, just be patient! I know it’s a major issue, I understand your frustration, but hang in there!

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Out of curiosity, I tried switching DNS from Norton DNS to ISP DNS, for 24 hours, to see if that made any difference in my Core updating its firmware. No change, still stuck in 191. Switched back to Norton DNS. This thing has me stumped.

Still stuck on 191. Some kind of update from the team(s) working on this would be appreciated. No other networking or cyber security company goes this long on a major issue like this without an update that says more than we are working on it. Do I need to call your corporate office to get some kind of INFORMATIVE update on this?

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Gentleman. Please hold your frustration in check here on the public forums. If you have a disagreement please contain that to using the PM system that is provided. Even still please keep it mature and professional if you'd be so kind. We do NOT want to have anyone booted off the forums for a silly moment of frustration.

One a softer note. The Symantec team is indeed working on a solution for the firmware issue. As we have all seen posted more than once, there is almost never advance notice to fix releases. It will just more than likely appear overnight while we are all sleeping. PLEASE!  Keep the feedback coming and post anything that changes here in open forums. Visibility will be greater.

Cheers

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

To lighten up things a bit... Years ago, I designed a digital circuit for a device. When the manufacturer put it under test, had a little glitch!
I couldn’t find the problem, neither could the senior engineer! A couple nights later he calls me at 2 am, he found it.
My design was flowless, the way we added the board to the system was the problem! Simple!!!
That’s what's happening with Norton’s latest glitch! Give them time, they’ll get! I KNOW first hand, debugging initial design CAN sometimes be challenging!

Cheers!

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Hi @Richard1864,

The good news is, your Core has been on firmware v193, which is the latest version, since 11th October. After analyzing the logs, we have identified an issue with the cloud, and we will be addressing it soon. Thank you for bringing this to our notice. Once a fix is in place, we will let you know.

Cheers,

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Thank you Gayathri. The cloud issue is causing the Core app to show the wrong firmware version? And is that also the reason we no longer see the notification saying Up-to-date/update firmware in the Core app?

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Hello

This sounds like my issue. My firmware shows the original 164 firmware, but Gayathri told me I've been on 193 since Oct 23, the day my Core was set up. It is just showing the wrong number, but is updated kind of like a cosmetic issue?

Thanks.

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

I was told it was an issue of some kind with the cloud on Norton’s side. No idea when it will be fixed except that it still isn’t fixed.

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

All: I performed a full factory reset earlier this morning. Even with a NAT-NAT config on FIOS my score went from 272 to 477. There are still a couple of small lingering issue with the UI identifying device manufacturer and model names on the app but all my other small issues are now resolved. Core firmware went right to v193, app to v1.22 as it was prior. Here is my latest post: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/multiple-core-issues-resolved

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Hello

I have the same 477 with my Verizon FIOS. However my firmware still shows as 164. Mine had a Factory Reset last weekend I think it was. I haven't done anything with the People area. I also noticed that there is no laptop listing so my husband's laptop is listed as a Computer. Before my Reset, my score was in the Fair range and now it's Excellent. My modem/router cannot be bridged because it's too old to do according to Verizon. They also told me that I can't connect a router to it, but Core is connected and working. It even survived a Android Galaxy S7 system update this morning.

Thanks.

This Saturday night, Daylight Savings Time ends and we go back to Eastern Standard Time. I'm wondering if it will know that the time should show the difference?

Re: Still not sign of latest firmware.

Hello

Mine has updated successfully and have notified Gayathri in another thread.

Thanks to Gayathri and her Symantec Team for fixing this issue. Not only my Firmware went to 202, but also my cosmetic bug went away since it was showing me as having 164 when I actually had 193., but now all is well as far as I know.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.
