I am disabled and cannot use a phone.. I used my wife's phone to set up Norton Core. Is there any way to manage Core from my PC and save my marriage?
Hello Pappy01545 At the present time Core doesn't provide for a PC/web browser interface. Android and iOS devices only. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v118380509_core_en_us
Symantec decided to limit router access to mobile devices for security reasons, but many of us feel that this involved too large of a trade-off in usability, as many potential users are in situations similar to yours. I think more people would be interested in purchasing Norton Core if it used a standard browser-based interface. From both a usability and sales perspective, Symantec would be wise to allow access from a browser. And it might save a few marriages as well.
All: I found that using an "Android Emulator" allows access to the Core app from the desktop. The name is Memu, it can be downloaded here for Android although you have iOS. I have thoroughly tested it for functionality, its easy to install as well. Hope that helps in some way.
I agree. Is there anyone that I can write too? Not interested in starting a war just want to explain my situation.
checking it out. Should work. I'll let you know.
I've tried to download Memu,, download is successful but when I try to install I get a notice that says "Please reserve 2GB of free disk space" and I'm not sure how to do that. Did you have this problem?
Hello again. Your computer has to have enough free storage space to install programs. I'm not sure why you would be getting that message unless your hard drive is almost full. What OS operating system are you using? If windows what version?
Yes I have 160 GB left. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro.
When you get that message just click past it and have the software install.
I clicked on custom and it was trying to save to my D drive, wierd. Anyway it's loaded what now?
Double click the Memu icon on your desktop and allow it to load. It may take a few minutes the first time you use it. Here is what I see when the app is loaded. If it shows the Norton Core icon open it. It will prompt you to sign in with the credentials you setup your account with. You can then control your Core from there. I'm having a bit of a problem. I'm seeing your screen above but it's asking me to go into BIOS and enable virtualization technology to improve performance. That's a little tricky for me because to get to BIOS per the instructions I have to restart and and I lose the switch I use for my disability and I don't know if I need it for Core. I also don't see the Norton Core icon. How do I load it?
Pappy just ignore that. No need to tinker with the system BIOS. Your system more than likely doesn't have the setting set in the BIOS anyway, don't allow anything to have access to that.
Yes okay. Where do I the Norton Core app and will it just come up in Memu?
Since the phone you setup Core with is an iOS Apple device you will need to register with Google for an account. You can do that here. When you have your account setup and verified go on over to the Google Play Store and download the Android app for Norton Core from within the Memu app.
If you have a Gmail email account, you already have the Google Account necessary for the Play Store.
Well we did it. I did have to go into BIOS and enable Virtualization Technology or VT. Memu just wouldn't work without it. The Memu program worries me a little. My spider senses go off whenever I'm on it but it's done and I'm happy.. Thank you for all of your help and have I a good one.
You are very welcome.
