Core blocking streaming service with no notification

Hi, I've been trying to run a streaming service called "www.playon.tv" unsuccessfully. Did the usual mantra of restarts, uninstall/reinstall, tweak setting of playon. No success. Moved on to NS. All the right firewall settings were in place. As it turns out, the playon app was trying to access the playon.tv website and Core, unbeknownst to me was blocking playon. tv. So, I added playon.tv as an allowed site. It looks like, at least in this case, that if Core has no information on an internet address, it just sort of does nothing. When the playon app tried to access playon.tv the application just kept freezing until, repeating myself, I added as it as an "allowed site. Playon is not a major streamer, but we watch CBS programming thru it. I'm sure I should report the website issue somewhere. Where would that somewhere be?

Re: Core blocking streaming service with no notification

As an addendum, the Core was removed from the box and setup the day before. So, it truly was a fresh install with no allowed/blocked sites set up, no bad actors had triggered alerts yet, and so on. This new Core was a replacement for previous Core. Oddly enough, the old Core ran playon.tv without incident for 6 months, but that Core, RIP, had a number of issues with it

The "application just freezing" referenced in the original post is referring to the Playon app, not the Core App.

Re: Core blocking streaming service with no notification

Mickey the website itself functions normally in IE11 per my screenshot. My Core didn't block this URL in any way. From your Core app please find the blocked notification and post that screenshot for us to see. On your device the app is installed give that device QOS and make it a priority device in settings. See if anything changes.

Re: Core blocking streaming service with no notification

To wrap this up quickly. The playon app button was telling me I had the current version, but their website indicated that that was not correct. From their website, I downloaded and installed new playon app update and installed. Problem solved. Not a Core issue.

The above aside, I'd love to have a manual update Core feature.

Glad hearing the app update did the trick.

Cheers

@Micky Brown - "The above aside, I'd love to have a manual update Core feature."

I'd like to understand how that would have helped this scenario? Also a reboot of Norton Core will make sure you have the latest firmware and apply it.
