Re: CCleaner v5.55.7108 (12 Mar 2019)

Hi bjm_

Thanks for the heads up.  I haven't updated to CCleaner Free v5.55 yet but it sounds like the pop-up to upgrade to the paid CCleaner Pro version (which is apparently required for a fully functional Software Updater) appears every time you select the Tools menu, and (surprise !!) this new Software Updater can't be disabled.

Have you ever tried the BleachBit utility suggested by Martin Brinkmann in his ghacks.net article?  I've tested portable versions of Cybertron's Privacy Eraser v4.x and WiseCleaner's Wise Disk Cleaner v9.x and v10.x as possible replacements for CCleaner but neither had the options / functionality I was looking for.

Hi Imacri

I updated (over-installed Slim) to CCleaner Free v5.55 for a few minutes.  I saw Tools > 'Software Updater'.  I allowed ccleaner64.exe net access and ran 'Software Updater' once.   I did not see 'upgrade to the paid CCleaner Pro version' popup, as I recall.

I over-installed 5.54 Slim and blocked ccleaner64.exe net access.

Yeah, CCleaner Free offers me features, I'm used to.  Old dog... etc.
