I keep getting a notification that my child is accessing website in incognito

I keep getting a notification that my child is accessing website in 'incognito' (Chrome) or 'Private' (Edge) and I cannot see how this is possible. I have permanently disabled this in Chrome and Edge via Registry changes and have checked this myself. In Chrome, there is no option available, and it Edge, 'Private Browsing' is greyed out and cannot be selected.

Using shortcut keys to access either is also not available. So the question is, why is Norton Family giving me this warning?

Re: I keep getting a notification that my child is accessing website in incognito

Hi bigchief,

We have a common email/alert sent for incognito and guest mode. However, we will relook at the email content to mention both.

Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks,
Norton Family Team.

Hi bigchief,

Incognito alerts sent from the Norton Family product are not based on the Registry entries. Alerts could also be sent when incognito or guest mode is launched/running in the background.

Kindly ensure no browser instances are opened and let us know after your observations.

Thanks,
Norton Family Team.

Re: I keep getting a notification that my child is accessing website in incognito

Hi,

I believe you misunderstood my comment about the Registry entries. What I was saying is that Incognito/InPrivate browsing is completely disabled. That's all. Guest mode and Incognito are two completely different functions in browsers. So the fact that Norton Family is giving the same warning for both is actually misleading.

I have now disabled Guest mode in both Edge and Chrome but Norton Family really needs to look into why it is giving a misleading "Incognito" warning when in fact the person is browsing in 'Guest' mode
