IPhone Monitored Under Norton Family: Apps Disappear Then Reappear

My child is using an iPhone 11 with the latest software.  Each evening most of his apps "go away" and then return in the morning.  This does not appear to be following the time schedule I set for the use of this device under Norton Family.  When I completely delete the Management Profile (NortonLifeLock Inc.) all the apps come right back.  Also noticing that when all the apps are gone in the evening there are like 5 Restrictions in play.  Once all apps come back there's only 1 Restriction showing.  Is this a Norton Family setting, a NortonLifeLock thing, a VPN thing?   Perhaps a clock setting?   All I want is for the apps to come and go (or not go at all) along with the settings that I put in play and not on some other erroneous schedule.  Thanks!

Hi AW4533,

Apps will get rearranged once they reappear after curfew and will be placed in the home screen in alphabetical order. This is as per Apple’s design.

Thanks,
Manoj

Hi @GerhardtinNOVA,

Time Supervision on iOS is dependent on the Device Management profile that you have installed on your's kid's iPhone. The restriction settings that you see in the profile are a Norton Family specific setting and that defines what happens during the curfew. At the start of curfew, all the apps downloaded from the App Store along with the Camera and FaceTime apps would be hidden and that results in the 5 Restriction settings. And by the end of the curfew block, all the apps would be restored on the device and that results in the 1 Restriction setting in the profile.

As far as the erroneous schedules are concerned, we will check in the backend as to why the device is not getting locked as per the schedules set in the portal. But, a point to be noted is that, the curfew will be enforced based on the Parent timezone that is set in the Norton Family portal (Under Parent --> Edit Profile --> Time Zone) and not based on the device timezone.

Thanks and Regards,
Andrew.

I have a similar issue except when the apps disappear, they are not restored in the same state. Basically, it creates mess of any custom settings my children made and have to manually fix it. How can we make norton family restore the exact layout and customization when it restore the apps?

Thanks!  That was a good bit of info and seems to have solved things.  Strange though the other day the apps didn't come back in the morning and were gone all day then the following day came back right on schedule.  That's only happened once though.  All other days it was perfect.

Hi @GerhardtinNOVA,

We checked the time schedules from backed logs and it's proper. We had a temporary outage in one of our services during that day, which caused the failure.

Thanks,

Haha, that's funny because even on the eleventh iPhone, you get stuff like that. Probably your kid is quite intelligent and disables it when he needs to do something. Lately, Norton Family has started to feel strange on my son's phone. Maybe that app needs a fixed update. Mainly I'm using https://www.familyorbit.com/blog/child-phone-tracker/ as my second eye in my kid's phone. I'm still waiting for new updates to get all that stuff fixed. Hopefully, my track app didn't disappoint me yet.
