Why am I getting repeated update notices for Excel when my MS 365 is up to date

After running Norton 360 Smart Scan, Software Updater reports that MS Excel requires manual updating.  MS 365 is installed and up to date on our PC with Windows 11.  MS Excel is an included application in MS 365 but Smart Scan keeps notifying that it needs to be updated manually.  Very irritating!!

Same here.

Norton is reporting I have 4 Microsoft outdated programs but Microsoft are reporting zero.

I'm wondering if these updates are related to US English v UK English.

Firefox is the same, I always get my FF updates a day or two later than PatchMyPC reports they are available. When I check FF after the PMPC prompt it says it's up to date.

Re: Why am I getting repeated update notices for Excel when my MS 365 is up to date

It is most likely the Software Updater (SU) feature Norton throttled recently that apparently has an outdated database.  It scanned my computer and told me I needed to manually update my Microsoft Office apps when in fact I had the most recent updates through Windows Update.  Same with my browser.  SU reported I needed to update to latest Chrome version when in fact Google Chrome automatically updated me weeks prior. If Norton's SU can't recognize I have the current and latest browser version what is it scanning ?  You might want to use caution if you are considering any updates though Norton's SU feature,  as some have done so and it messed up their computer causing hours of work if not repair. SU can't be disabled but you can turn off the automated update feature and then select the programs/apps that are current and mark them as exclude.  That will stop those apps from being scanned for updates but SU will still run in the background.   It cannot be turned off.   For more information and other user's experiences, see the post "Disable Software Updater".
