Error "Re-activate to repair" Norton Utilities Premium

Norton Utilities Premium keeps getting "Re-activate to repair".  I've loaded and unloaded the program 4 times as directed by the Norton support page and I keep getting the error message even after each time the install wizard says activated and I don't have access to any tool except the dashboard.  Any new suggestions?????

Re: Error "Re-activate to repair" Norton Utilities Premium

Are you using a Norton Utilities Premium, NUP, that was included as the free bonus for having Auto Renewal set up for your 360 Subscription? If so, there are changes to this free offer. Norton is no longer offering the free NUP for having auto renew set up on 360. The NUP activation will end when any of these things occur.

  • You turn off auto renewal for your 360 subscription.
  • Your current 360 subscription that originally gave the free NUP expires. Even if you kept auto renew enabled.

...seems a bit 'mean' !! I quite liked having NUP bundled with my last subscription. I didn't even really research as to whether it was useful or not!  It was included (not 'strictly free') as part of a paid for subscription. I have been a slavishly loyal customer for such a long time, so chuck a peanut or two my way! Ta.

Re: Error "Re-activate to repair" Norton Utilities Premium

So as I've documented here I've got no way to either re-enable Premium, or even upgrade/downgrade to Ultimate.  How do I fix this for myself & the others that use the software as well?

I have the same problem and nobody in the chat support is able to help me. I hope Norton will take care of us, I paid for this tool and i can't use it.

@Marianne Masterson

If you have lost the free NUP offered for auto renewal of 360, there is no way to regain that, as I noted above that Norton no longer offers this 'bonus'. If you want to continue using Norton Utilities you will have to purchase a subscription to the Norton Utilities Ultimate, as the Premium does not seem to be offered.   See this information...   https://us.norton.com/products/norton-utilities-ultimate?inid=nortoncom-...

@Jean Patricia54

Had you paid for a separate NUP subscription, or did you also have the free offer for the automatic renewal on a 360 subscription?

If it is the free offering, then there is nothing you can do. See my post above

If you have a separate paid subscription, you should still be able to use NUP for the balance of the subscription period. Log into your Norton Account and click on the user icon at the top right and then click on Manage my Subscriptions. Find your current NUP subscription and then copy your NUP product key, and then click on the Download link. Install the app and when you open it, click on the Help '?' and then on About Norton Utilities. From that page, click on Change Product key and enter the key you copied from your Account. That should activate your NUP again.

Re: Error "Re-activate to repair" Norton Utilities Premium

I paid separatly using paypal for NUP on the 14 of april .

I did what you say and when I enter the key, I have the message Key not valid

All is OK on my account, but I cannot enter the key to activate NUP

The chat support persons were not able to help me, they did the same, desinstall, reinstall and the key is not valid

Re: Error "Re-activate to repair" Norton Utilities Premium

I just got off the phone with support regarding this issue and got a rep talking out of both ends of her mouth. First she logs into my account and sees that I have an active subscription and said she will activate the program for me. When she tries, she gets the same message the rest of us are getting, we need to upgrade and/or the key is expired. She confirmed that the key is still valid then put me on hold. When she came back, she tried telling me that since I accepted/used a trial version of Ultimate and that version is now expired, the Premium key is no longer active. WTF kind of $#!7 is that? She said that if I want to continue using Utilities, I will have to pay to upgrade to Ultimate. She then switched it up and said that since I originally purchased the subscription through Amazon, Utilities is no longer a part of my 360 subscription when I renew but had I originally purchased it though Norton and renewed, the Premium subscription would still be good but since I didn't, it's no longer valid, even though she just confirmed that the key is still an active and valid key! I don't know about you but this sounds a lot like theft by fraud to me! I'm seriously considering contacting the Consumer Protection Agency and filing a complaint. Like so many products before it, Norton screwed the pooch on this one too. I hate to think I'm part of the cancel culture but after using Symantec/Norton products for well over 20 years and now seeing them treating their customers like this and providing service and software like this, maybe cancelling (not renewing) is the best option at this point!

I agree with you this is not serious from a company like Norton. We pay, we need to have the service.

I paid my "renew" subscription using paypal and I open a "litige" in paypal, I want to get my money back.

Sorry for my bad english, i'm french

AFAIK, the Premium version of NU is no longer available. It has been replaced by the Ultimate version. Did you purchase this NUP directly from Norton? If so, you should be able to request a refund within 60 days of purchase by contacting Norton Support.     www.norton.com/contactcs

Re: Error "Re-activate to repair" Norton Utilities Premium

This is crap for norton to do this.  I've been a user of Norton since Norton Disk Dr way before some of you were even born. and a user of Norton Security programs since they came out.  Product has been going downhill since combined with LifeLock.  How about helping long time customers who have helped the company stay in business all these years.
