Delete backup set from your account

  1. Sign In to your account.

  2. In the My Norton page, under Cloud Backup, click View Backup Sets.

The existing backup sets that are in use are displayed.

  3. To delete a backup set, click the trash icon of the backup set that you want to delete.

  4. In the Delete Backup Set confirmation window, click Delete.

Click Cancel to display the backup page without deleting the backup set.

If you delete the backup set in your Norton product, it will not delete the files in the online storage unless you choose the option to remove the backup set and all files.

What you can do now is log into your Norton Account and click on the Cloud Storage pillar. Then click on View Backup Sets. Then find the backup set you wish to remove and click on the trash can beside it. That will free up the storage space for you.

Re: I want my Norton cloud backup to be deleted of all contents.

You can delete a backup set if it is no longer needed. You cannot delete a backup set if only one backup set is available. However, you can create a new backup set before you delete the old backup set.

When a backup set is deleted, the Backup details of the files that are included in that backup set also change. For example, the icon overlays and the Backup tab in the file properties of the file no longer appear.

Deleting a backup set is particularly helpful if you want to free some space on your Secure Cloud Storage.

  • Delete a backup set

  • Delete backup set from your account

DELETE A FILE FROM A BACKUP SET ON THE NORTON BACKUP DRIVE

  1. In Windows Explorer, click Norton Backup Drive.

  2. Select the backup destination and navigate to the backup set destination that contains the file that you backed up.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Right-click to select the files to delete, and then click Delete.

    • Select the file, and then click Delete.

In the Delete Backup Set window, do one of the following:

  • To delete the current backup set, select Delete backup set.
  • To delete the current backup set and purge the files already backed up, select Delete backup set and files.

Delete backup set...think backup settings/instructions - think What | Where | When
- what files to back up, where you want them backed up, and when you want the backup to run -
Delete backup set and files...think backup settings/instructions and the files already backed up with those backup settings/instructions.

It is the default backup set I am trying to delete.  When I try to delete it states I have to have at least one backup set and this is causing the problem of my norton security at risk....

Hmm, trying to delete the default backup set (settings/instructions) or trying to delete the default backup set (settings/instructions) and the files already backed up with those backup settings/instructions.

Hmm, as I recall.
You can delete all backup sets from your Norton account.
Correct me.

Maybe, create a new default backup set before you delete the old default backup set.
Do not run backup on the new default backup set and then delete the old default backup set.
Then turn off all backup settings.

I thought you can still delete all backup sets from your Norton account.
Lets ask @peterweb

In Backup settings you will always have a default backup set. But you should be able to delete the data that has already been stored in your Norton Account using the instructions bjm_ posted above.

Then as long as you have turned off the Backup feature, nothing will get saved to your Norton account unless you turn Backup on again.

Yes, of course the DefaultSet (settings/instructions) remains.

Thanks @peterweb
