email proxy deleted email

I am using Outlook on win 10.  I have just received a notification "Symantec Email Proxy Deleted Message".  The email itself had a pdf with e-tickets for I booking I made today.  There have been no problems with booking confirmation emails from the sender in the past (I've been a Symantec/Norton customer for over 10 years) I have found no way to recover the email and cannot seem to get a duplicate email sent from the vendor. What to I do to recover the email with my e-tickets so that I can print them?

Re: email proxy deleted email

Are you by any chance accessing your company email via Outlook?

This appears to me as this issue for SEP: https://community.broadcom.com/symantecenterprise/communities/community-...

Re: email proxy deleted email

Matt. This issue goes way back as far as 2004, there have been numerous instances where there hasn't been an answer to threads posted here on the forums as well. One would wonder whether the sender has a compromised machine/network trying to pass spam through filters within Windows and Norton. Or conversely, is there a conflict between the sender ( using a SEP security solution ) and the way N360 is reading the messaging filter it has? Maybe disabling the N360 anti-spam client will change the situation, as a temp test?

Re: email proxy deleted email

The clue is in the message itself. "Symantec" email proxy. This is tied to the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) product now owned by Broadcom.

I still don't have a response from the OP if this is a company email address. I suspect it is and they use SEP for their mail servers.

perhaps your ISP is using SEP?

Re: email proxy deleted email

@SCorcoran Its understood this message was sent to your email account. The perplexing question remaining is WHO this was sent from. IE, a booking agency, work, etc. We don't need that address to be posted here just an answer for WHO. We have to help you determine what the issues may be with the sender and whether there is another issue where that sender MAY be compromised.

Edited: The issue is an old one, related to the anti-spam feature in Norton, as discussed in this article:

Re: email proxy deleted email

Same issue, different ecosystem.  I have Windows 10, Thunderbird e-mail client, and Norton 360 Premium 2, all up to date.  I get the same "Symantec Email Proxy Deleted Message", for the exact same sender e-mail address as one a dozen lines above in the Inbox, as well as plenty of other e-mails from the same sender.

When I go to my ISP's server using webmail, I can still see the original message on their server, so this is definitely happening on the local PC.  There are no background services running that are identifiable as Symantec.  There are a couple of Norton services running, as expected.

Re: email proxy deleted email

Indeed it is a local PC issue. That being said. Just rehashing a bit for everyone, the error message itself suggests the sending client is using SEP ( Symantec Endpoint Protection ). Symantec is now totally owned by Broadcom and is no longer a part of Norton. Another post here suggested disabling the Norton anti-spam addon and rebooting to recheck for the issue being persistent. Has anyone with the issue being seen done so? If so would you share those results? TIA
