How to disable Norton after I've compiled a new build???

I'm a programmer.

I often program at home, but ever since I got this new version of Norton, I'm asked if want to run my own program. This didn't happen until a few days back. And since my program is still in development, I compile it quite a lot. There's no way I can turn that message off. It reappears even when I add the program to 'Program Control' in 'Change Default Settings'.

I really could use some help to turn that extremely annoying thing from Norton off.

Thank you

fic.

Are you sure this is not Windows UAC protection? This past Tuesday was Windows patch day, so maybe something in that update changed the behaviour you are seeing. Maybe a screenshot of the message will help us confirm where the message is coming from.

As a developer, you need to create a master folder for all your projects. Then exclude that folder and all sub folders from Both items in the image below.

Re: How to disable Norton after I've compiled a new build???

So when I try to create a "system image" on an external harddrive, there is action from Norton 360 that causes it to fail.  I tried to disable to auto-protect and turned on silent mode.  The system image creation still failed.  Is there a way to turn this all off so the system image can be created.  This all worked last January but now, no more.

Errors from the system image are 0x80780166 and 0x800701B1

Hello cirvine1. The errors you posted are most likely caused by the Windows service "Volume Shadow Copy Service" not running/ Press Windows + R to open Run command, type Services.msc and press Enter.  Search for Volume Shadow Copy Service, right click on it and start the service. Lets see if you get different results.

Also follow the suggestions Guru peterweb outlined regarding creating a "master folder" for all your compilations, then exclude that master folder in Norton settings as shown.
