Virus detection - looking for specifics

Hello all,  recently while resetting/rebuilding my system Norton detected a virus.  I printed the detection information, unfortunately that's all I have to refer to now, since the OS, norton, and everything else has been reinstalled since that detection, and I didn't take the extra steps/risks to back up and save logs which might be useful.  Is there anywhere here, on this site or another site, or other Norton software, that might provide specifics about the kind of actions and behaviour that is to be expected from this kind of malware?  Like commonly affected areas or files, vectors, removal tips?  I remember many years ago using a database like that in conjunction with a Norton product, but I can't seem to find anything.  Would appreciate any help!
