Re: New Password Manager

This new password manager is a piece of junk!  How do I revert to the old password manager?

The old password manager was intuitive and easy to manage, this one is now telling me that I have sites with no password entered!

Whoever designed this new one should be fired.

Re: New Password Manager

When the login setting requires the Password Vault to be entered. The next action of the password manager app is to open the record as if to edit it. The screen shot dated 15-NOV shows when the Password Vault is not required.

Previous version accessed the target website after the Password Vault was entered.

Re: New Password Manager

So for saved sites where you have the "Vault password required" box checked, the new password manager does not have an "Open Link Arrow" that takes you to the site?  Dalton Glen is correct saying "The next action of the password manager app is to open the record as if to edit it."  I don't want to edit it, I want to go to the site and log in after I provide the "Vault password required".  This is what occurred in the last version and was very secure.  Can someone advise if this exists or am I missing it!

I'm using Chrome.  I updated it to ensure that was not the problem.  It wasn't.

Re: New Password Manager

I have the same problem on 3 browsers Edge, Chrome & Firefox.

This new version is not USER FRIENDLY, they just made it look pretty.

I spent an hour on chat, let them access my PC and it didn't get resolved.

It seems if you want a vault password used to open a site you first need to open th site manually then password manager will fill in the details.

This wasn't how the previous version worked.

Very sad, it is now a painful app.

Re: New Password Manager

I can access password manager vault but it wont let me go into log in . After glicking on log in you go arrow on left click it and it just takes you back to list . Yesterday Norton said they fixed it but still the same.

Re: New Password Manager

Here is what you need to do to get the password manager to take you to the website:

1.  Click the password manager icon on your tool bar.

2. Find the website on the drop down list

3. Touch the website address that you want, and a new door will appear immediately to the right that was previously unseen.

4. Move over to the right and click the door.  It will open up the website for you.

I know it's tedious, but it is what it is, for now.  Hopefully Norton will learn not to fix that which was not broken, to begin with.

Re: New Password Manager

In the Password Manager tool there is an "Additional Security" option that can be enabled for a specific entry. BY setting the checkbox, "Vault password required" creates the situation describe above.

Re: New Password Manager

Thank, but this doesn't work for sites where "Vault Password Required"

When you enter the password the program takes you to the app with no ability to connect to the site.

Re: New Password Manager

This new version is horrible. Why did Norton make this change to their previously easy to use and well received UI? If you notice and I have searched through several of these chains, there is no reason given as to why the change. I don't appreciate the change without what seems to be community input.  Hopefully, they will realize the error of their ways and make real improvements in the future.

Re: New Password Manager

Why doesn't Norton ask its customers before making a major change to the Password Manager UI??  The new one, inflicted on us about 11/15/22, is terrible.  This may have made the Norton programmers happy but, for users, it is no good!

In the old one, we only had to click on the site, but the new one makes us click on an all-but-hidden icon.  Further, the old one provided all the needed info in a concise, user-friendly format.  The new one, on the other hand, truncates important information like the website information.  For example, here's a part of the new "improved" site's "Website" field:

  AE  Aetna - Wellnes....

  AE  Aetna - Wellnes....

The above are two separate entries which were clearly differentiated in the old UI!

In the settings, please give us the option of using the old UI!!!

Re: New Password Manager

Thank you but this solution does NOT work for the entries where "Vault Password is required. The result is that we have to copy-paste both the Website Link and the Password to the browser (Chrome-Firefox-Edge). Obviously, apart from utterly frustrating, this also poses a security threat from potential software that can copy my clipboard ...

IS ANYBODY FROM SYMANTEC READING THESE FORUMS ? I WONDER ...

Re: New Password Manager

OMG! I agree. I have spent hours trying to get it to work. Just when I think I have it, it will not work again on other websites, and, occasionally, on same site. How do you change Password. I click forgot PW; a link is sent to reset. How do I get PWM to generate a new PW & Copy it again? When I get to PWM by this point, I click on list of logins, or add new login website. I ask it to generate a password, which it does. But, when I go back to fill in the new password, it often doesn’t know what to do. If I push several times on screen, Paste appears & it will fill in new PW. To confirm new PW, I tap the box a few times again & PWM accurately fills it in. However, NOTHING works in same consistent manner as you move on the change another PW. Also, many websites state there’s an error & to refresh, but nothing works. Get this, Microsoft has booted me out from even trying to sign in two different days because I can’t get PWM to successfully change PW. Norton, Ibought all of this specifically to protect from hacking. So, itsyimperative PWM work. t this point, it honestly does not. It’s correctly installed. But, the damn thing is a piece of sh*t,

Re: New Password Manager

The only way I can access password manager from either My Norton OR Google Chrome is to restart my desktop computer and make using Password Manager as my very 1st action. Once I open any other app, I get a "sorry, something went wrong. Try again." It works fine on my cell phone but not my desktop. Very frustrating.

Re: New Password Manager

Thank you. I noticed this helps. I am having issues trying to change to a new password that Norton Generates, which is more secure, and getting website’s to accept the change. I’m getting there, but there’s no consistency so I can move along from one to the next.

Re: New Password Manager

Never so frustrated with PWM because it's impossible to navigate since the November release. Any way to go back to the old version?

Re: New Password Manager

Apparently not, when I tried to resolve the problems with PWM the support person said you can't go back to the working version.

Re: New Password Manager

I agree with most all on this subject. Norton has taken a step back in technology knowledge with this new PWM.

Re: New Password Manager

I use Norton Password Manager frequently but I do not use the "vault required " feature for any of my logins.

I have played with it now since reading this thread and I see your point that after entering the vault password it takes you to edit the details rather than to the actual website. My feeling is that Norton will correct this in a future release after reading about these issues since it seems logical that it should take you there.

Aside from that I do think I like the new PWM and find it easy and intuitive. That does not mean that there may be other problems but I am not experiencing them myself.

In any case I do hope Norton is aware of these issues and will take corrective actions.

Re: New Password Manager

The corrective action should be to revert to the prior user interface, and incorporate any new security measures!

Newer is not always better...this new interface proves it.
