I am getting the same message every (literal) 2 seconds. All scans show nothing is wrong. Registry is fine (apparently).
a. I want a virus gone (maybe obviously)
b. the pop up window shows up every 2 seconds and it blocks an 8th of my screen, which is especially annoying watching videos.
Any help would be great.

Hello Gnarbo. When you click on "View Details" what does it show? That info will be helpful. First. Clear your system temp files and ALL browser caches. Download and run a full system scan with Malwarebytes. Remove all malicious files it finds, a reboot should be required to do so.

I was facing the same issue . After restarting my PC the problem was resolved and I also removed some browser extensions which I found to be suspicious.
P.S. Its back . Please anyone provide us with some solution and from where can I delete this comment ?

Thanks for your suggestions.
The view details just show an attempted attack every 2 seconds. It's quite long. It gives an URL that is doing the attacking - it doesn't look familiar. Scans with Norton, registry scans, PowerEraser find no issues, yet I still get the attack notification every 2 seconds. It's a brand new computer (2 months old) and I'm not really keen to do a format already.
I've done a bunch of reboots in the past and they haven't helped. I've done the two tasks you've suggested and still not working. I also find it interesting that I'm paying for Norton 360 and you are suggesting using a competitor?? I'll give it a go though...

When did "trojan.backdoor activity" messages start?
Was there any factory installed security solution?
Was factory installed security solution properly removed before installing Norton?
Was there any/other factory installed trialware/bloatware?
Have you installed any freeware/trialware?

If it were me I would do a clean install of Windows wiping out everything on the hard drive.
Do not do any personal or confidential banking or financial transactions. It might also be wise to change your passwords to be safe. It looks like Norton has caught and keeps catching the transmission back to the Mother Ship but since you really don't know what activity is being stopped it is certainly better to take precautions immediately.

No single security product can detect 100% of the tens of thousands of malware variants released every day. That is why having a second opinion scan helps fill any gaps.
It looks like you may have picked up a PUP, a Possibly Unwanted Program. While they are annoying, they do not cause damage to your system. Some people actually want the 'Features' offered by these programs. They are usually downloaded alongside a legitimate download when you do not uncheck the option for the additional download.
Norton products concentrate on malware that can damage your system, that is why some PUPs are not detected.
Malwarebytes does concentrate more on these PUPs than some other AV products.

Gnarbo. Although your registry may "appear" to be good it most likely is indeed not. There most likely is a hidden registry key that is allowing this to remain resident on the system. Please read the below article: *Malwarebytes is recommended, many of us here use MBAM in conjunction with our Norton product as added protection against things Norton doesn't concentrate on. Norton will primarily protect the operating system

Thanks... Malwarebytes managed to find 18 trojans and now they're gone.
I'm disappointed about possibly putting more money into a new program - I've been happily using Norton 360 for over 20 years.... this is the first time I feel let down.
I appreciate the help so much!

You do not need to put any more money into Malwarebytes. You can continue using the free version of Malwarebytes after the trial of the full version expires. Then you just use Malwarebytes as an on demand scanner every week or so, or on whatever schedule you feel comfortable with. That is what many of us here do.
