About to try Core another chance....Maybe

I disconnected from Core about a month ago and went to another router (NetGear Nighthawk) and have had no issues.

But I have $ tied up in the Core and think if all issues have been resolved the security may be better. However my home business relies on the internet and security

If all of the drop out issues have been resolved I may try it again. Reading some posts here I see it may have been fixed but not sure. Certainly not an IT Guru... When I try again is there a download that I need to make it work? Or some special  process to try

This will be the last time I try it as I need reliability.

Thanks

Hello Hooleyman You'll need the latest version of the Core app for your smartphone. Get it at either the Google Play Store or Apple sites. When setting up the Core the biggest thing is determining HOW the Core should be setup. Specifically, whether you have TV & phone services which are dependent on your ISP device to function. In the event of that being true the ISP device should have its wifi disabled if it has it incorporated. Core gets plugged into LAN port 1 of the ISP device then into the WAN port (with blue globe icon) on the Core. Open the app on your phone and follow the screen prompts. No other devices should be connected between your ISP device and Core for initial setup. Your smartphone should have its Bluetooth enabled when performing setup. I suggest to wipe the Core from your account and complete a fresh setup so that Core doesn't remember the old settings and put you right back where you left off.

The current firmware version is 266 and app version is 1.29. Let us know how we can assist you as you progress.

Hello

Small typo correction in Soul's post. The current firmware is 226, not 266. Hope you don't mind Soul.

Have a Nice Day and

Thanks.

Re: About to try Core another chance....Maybe

Originally bought and installed the Norton Core  for ease of installation, security and increased internet thru out the building

Above suggestions of wiping out all previous installs and starting over with the new Apple App of version 1.29 does not sound like a simple fix to someone like me.  In fact the version available via apple is 1.27. And switching IPS/DNS etc... is Greek to me.

Far from simple for me. They should never have released this product without being certain it was perfect. Customer service on the phone and via chat is non existent

I'm done with this device if this is the best they can do. I will chalk the device cost up as a lesson learned

Apple IOS version is 1.27 not 1.29, that is the version for Android.  The apple is working fine without any problems.

Re: About to try Core another chance....Maybe

Hello Hooleyman. If you want to not bother with things and just perform a restart of the Core that is another option. If your iOS app is version 1.27 your are good with that. My version posted before was a simple typo on my part. IF you actually want to get a good, new, clean setup of the Core its really simple to get done and takes about 10 minutes tops. You will never get accustomed to the settings in the Core app if the Core isn't used. A lot of users out there have just simply not take the appropriate time to use Core from where I sit. We are all willing to assist with your setup however that choice is yours sir. Please let us know what you decide and we can move forward.

Cheers

Re: About to try Core another chance....Maybe

Thanks for the input

When it was working I used the core features to see who was on line, turn web on and off as needed etc...

But the repeated loss of internet to some of my devices and having to reboot over and over again got to be a pain

Having to switch everything... televisions, printers, computers, phones, security system etc.. back and forth between routers and pass words etc...was a huge time consuming pain as you can imagine.

Since I have switched permanently from core I have not had a single issue...

Would like to get my $'s worth out of it though... but do  not want to go thru the issue of switching all devices over again.

Would send it back for a refund but threw the nice box it came in away!

Thanks for your assistance.

Re: About to try Core another chance....Maybe

Hello Hooleyman

The choice is yours of course. The issues that caused the loss of internet starting on Christmas have stopped since the middle of Jan. with my Android. I gather you use the IOS App,  and Manny who uses that says that works fine also.  After using the App, it doesn't seem to be so difficult any more, at least not from my chair. My husband hasn't complained since he hasn't lost internet with his laptop. No one is here to force you to try core again, but to offer our help to you and to any others who may need help also. I'm one of those who needs help also, but I'm willing to try and help others when I can try to help.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Re: About to try Core another chance....Maybe

Thanks

As I have had no failures with the NetGear unit I have not been inclined to switch back

I will try it again someday when I have time

Thanks for your interest however.
