Re: Accadental Nortan Antivirus Gaming Edition Uninstall

Not being able to imagine what you can have clicked on inside Norton that would have uninstalled it I can only think that what you clicked on was malware. I suggest you download the free Malwarebytes and Superantispyware, install and update them and see what they report.

Malwarebyte

Superantispyware

I'm assuming of course that you can effectively and safely access the internet if necessary on a different computer.

Download and install the free versions since they do all you need by running on command, not in the background. Then update them to the latest definitions and run them in turn.

Both have a good reputation for cleaning up.

If by any chance the refuse to install or won't run after installing because malware is preventing them you can sometimes defeat the malware by changing the name of the exe file to anything except its real title!

Do you not have the media to reinstall the NAVGaming version or the downloaded file?

The installation files may still be on your hard drive in a Norton or Symantec folder but I'd leave them in case now infected or corrrupted and download the current (2009) version of NAV Gaming from this link and install, update and run it once you have found out what Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware have to say.

You can use your existing subscription KEY to renew the activation of this trial version with the time remaining on it.

Please let us know how you get on.

Sorry but I don't fully understand what you are saying in your two messages and what "it" are you referring to of the three downloads I referred you to:

Malwarebytes

Superantispyware

Norton AntiVIrus Gaming 2009

Remember we are not sitting alongside you so we need lots of information -- tell us what version of Windows you are using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit.

If you are saying that you downloaded all three and none or some of them would not install and run that is a classic sign of malware which will try to stop you from running anything that could attack it.

So please fill in more details of what you are doing, what happens and when and in particular if you get any error messages what they say.

When does your subscription expire to the version you say disappeared?

Patience is a virtue .... we are all volunteers.

I can't help you at the moment since I have to go out -- I still do not understand your message about a frozen popup. We do ot charge by the word so please say exactly what you are doing and what happens so we can vizualize it.

Someone else will have to help you since I have no experience of 64 bit and some things do not work fully with that.

Okay Sorry,                                                                                                                                                                                                              hears what happens I download Norton Gaming edition with Opera, and click on it it pops up and starts to install then I get a pop up that says custom uninstall or complete uninstall, and its fashioned to look like gaming edition the Close Minimize and resize, are all grey, i cant click on them the only thing I can click on is the uninstalls, and a close button at the bottom but the close button just stops the install anyway, and the same thing happend after I ran Superantispyware and Malwarebytes, nothing changed. I dont know what to do next

Re: Accadental Nortan Antivirus Gaming Edition Uninstall

No problem. I'll ask for some help but since it might be due to an incomplete/corrupted previous attempt to install I suggest you run the special Norton Removal Tool but note that if you have any other Norton applications installed -- even GHOST or Save & Restore for example it will remove everything.

Since Norton are updating their products all the time, the Norton Removal Tool is constantly updated.

This link: Symantec Norton Removal Tool. will direct you to the current Symantec Norton Removal Tool.

I suggest you print out that page and then download and run the tool -- I don't know categorically that it is designed to run under both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows but .....

There is some indication that you get the best results if you run the tool, restart your computer and run it again and restart the computer.

Then I would download the installation file again and see if it runs OK. If you get the same results as before then it would indicate something wrong with Windows itself I would think if MWB and SAS show no infections.

But come back and tell us.
