Access geography restricted sites using CORE

In relation to VPN sites such as "Cyberghost, ExpressVPN, NordVPN" etc; these VPN providers allow access to geography restricted sites.

It is my understanding that the CORE can access the Symantec servers. The outcome being that the Symantec server provides VPN service to its CORE users allowing access to geography restricted supplier sites. Such as iView in Australia can be streamed to the USA or Canada.

Is that correct?

Re: Access geography restricted sites using CORE

Hello yeff. Core itself doesn't have an incorporated VPN but will run with VPN's. Norton does offer a separate VPN service. I'm a Core user myself and can access the site you referenced without any issues from Core without a VPN.

Re: Access geography restricted sites using CORE

Hi, Appreciate the quick response.

1. Can you advise the VPN Service Norton offer, maybe a link. The only VPN I have seen is the public wifi app that provides security for devices on wifi called "Norton wifi Privacy". Not sure if this product is suitable for the CORE, ie a VPN service for routers?

2. I appreciate that the CORE will address iView while locally in Australia, I believe I will need a VPN to connect to iView while international away from an Australia local IP address, I know from experience iView definately geographically restrict to the States and Canada.

So by having a VPN on the router capable of achieving a local Australian IP address while overseas means we can stream iView while in Canada or the States. However I am not familiar enough to know which Norton product will achieve this for the router. I would prefer to use a Norton based product rather than go to a third party such as "CyberGhost".

If you have the time, clarification of the Norton products available to achieve a router based VPN service would be appreciated.

Re: Access geography restricted sites using CORE

yeff Your #1 - Norton Wifi privacy is the option available. #2 - NordVPN is the highest recommended choice I have read about. It would be your best choice to do what you are wanting to do with a VPN service. Do your homework and contact NORD before making a service purchase and thoroughly inform them of the scenario you have in mind. Also keep in mind a VPN cannot be installed directly onto Core itself. I will run alongside within the OS/browser of choice.

Re: Access geography restricted sites using CORE

I know from experience iView definately geographically restrict to the States and Canada.

SoulAsylym was able to access that site from a US location without a VPN. I was also able to stream content from Canada without my VPN active.  I realize there are sites that do lock their content, but at the moment, if it is just iView you are concerned about, you may have nothing to worry about.

Otherwise, follow SoulAsylum's advice on choosing a VPN service to install on your computers or mobile devices.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.

Yeff, are you trying to use the Core in Australia? #2  Core is only available for use in the United States.
