Account management

Regarding my account--

On the page, https://my.norton.com/devices/home/List, I'd like to:

1. Delete incorrect machine entries

2. Rename machines (If I click on a machine icon this page, the next does show the specific name I gave it. I want that specific name on the home list for easier/quicker recognition).

Separately, how can I confirm that I have just one subscription and that two (mistakenly) subscriptions are not ongoing under my name then my wife's name?

Re: Account management

To delete or rename devices on the Device page of your Norton Account, click on the device, then the trash can to delete, or the pencil icon to rename.

For the subscription question, you click on My Norton at the top right of the Norton Account web page then click My Subscriptions. There you will see all subscriptions that are registered to your Norton Account and email address. The only way your wife could have registered a subscription to your Norton Account is if you gave her your account credentials.

If your wife registered a subscription to her own Norton Account with her own email address, you cannot check that. Your wife has to sign into her account to see what is shown.

Re: Account management

The two machines indicated as mine both display as Windows 7 whereas both are Windows 10. Do I just ignore this?

Re: Account management

You can ignore that discrepancy, or you can delete the devices as I noted above. Then go to each computer and open Norton Security and click on Help - Subscription Status. This will sync your computer to the Norton servers, and hopefully will sort out the issue for the wrong OS showing on the web site.

Re: Account management

I deleted 1 of the 2 instances of the machine T61 which had displayed Win7 instead of Win10. This resulted in both T61's being deleted. I then reinstalled on the T61. When I click Help/My Subscription on the T61 it shows 'Renews in 25 days', Manage click 'here', etc. However, manage only displays 3 of the 4 machines and not the T61?

I had reinstalled on the T61 yesterday so there's been enough time to sync. Help Center/About, Device Name is 'not available'?

I renamed the machine, booted, opened Norton, My subscription (to sync--which, btw, there is no explicit ack that a sync occurred) but About still shows no Device Name?

Any ideas on getting Manage to see the T61?

Re: Account management

As you reinstalled your Norton, it is possible that the Remote Management setting got reset to the default OFF. Check that setting is turned on in Settings - Administrative Settings.

Then click the Help - Subscription Status to try to sync with the servers again.

Re: Account management

You were correct. I read that remote management is off as the default. Once turned on, the machine is recognized.

Thanks,

Re: Account management

Just a thought--

This is first time (in years) that I've run into having to manually set remote management to on. So that does beg the statement efficacy of 'the default is off'.

Some engineering manager decided that is best for us. Not sure why, as almost everyone wants to be able to monitor their devices from the online portal.

Re: Account management

Thanks for the directions on how to change the name of my device. Upon reading, perhaps I should check this default thing as well. Both the Win 7 and XP machines get the same amounts of updated and scan filed daily. What's your take?
