add control over upload speed

We need to be able to control the upload speed.

Right now it shows a remaining time of 180 hrs left (1 week!) for a transfer speed of 38kb/s, a fraction of my ISP's bandwidth.

As an aside a better feedback of number of files uploaded vs left would be nice.

(Note: this has been suggested in other postings, along with other features -- adding it as a single feature to better track kudos)

Hi Ozyn, would you want to be able to control download as well? Would you want to be able to toggle use of more bandwidth to upload these files more quicky?

Re: add control over upload speed

personally I am more interested in thrttling the upload, but I would assume others would be interested in download as well. As an example look at gpodder: it allows to specify the number of concurrent connections or files, and the max bandwidth. In addition, I'd like to be able to easily pause and resume the transfers.

But my original posting was about 1) the fact that the upload used only a fraction of my available bandwidth (in a sense the opposite of throttling!), and 2) the indication of what it was doing and remained to be done was completely uninformative.

I'll add one thing: there is no way to get info of which files suceeded to be uploaded or not: e.g. you can't even get a count of files uploaded or a cumulative size, even per folder. So after the 180 hours I mentioned, I cannot say for sure that all files have been uploaded.

Agreed speed control for both download and upload would be a huge plus.

Re: add control over upload speed

Could this be why Speedtest went from a 75MBps upload to 3Mbps upload after Norton Security was installed?
