Add-On Pack Solution

In this post, Jmorri experienced trouble when installing the Add-On Pack with the new build 16.1.0.33. An error message reported that the Add-On Pack was "incompatible" with the new build.

To confirm the issue I attempted to install the Add-On Pack and I encountered the same results as Jmorri. The Add-On Pack would not install citing incompatibility issues with 16.1.0.33.

The solution which worked for me was as follows:

Navigate to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Symantec Temporary Files.

Delete any AOP downloads located there. (Actually, I had a few other downloads there including a 2008 download which I also deleted.)

Once the files are deleted, open the main Norton interface.

Go to Settings > Parental and Privacy Controls then "Click here to install".

The Add-On Pack proceeded to install flawlessly.

I hope this may work for others who have experienced this issue.

Thanks for the suggestion, huwyngr, but modesty prevents humble self from pressing the solution button.

The intent was merely to assist others who may have encountered the issue which was originally discovered by Forum Member Jmorri.

Re: Add-On Pack Solution

I cannot find the C:\Documents and settings file that you indicate in the workaround.  When I try to search this name- I get a message that it cannot be found.  I am typing it exactly as you have indicated in the reply.  Any ideas?  I do not have the new patch (16.2).  Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated (it seems Norton is putting its users into workaround mode instead of getting it right the first time). I tried norton on line chat- they suggested that I install NIS08 to use the addon packs?

Thanks

Re: Add-On Pack Solution

Jack, if you are using Vista, you can navigate to the folder C:\Program Data\Symantec\Symantec Temporary files .

Phil, good solution as always......

Just to add, the same solution is useful for the issue "Communication Error" while downloading the Add on Pack.

Thank you for adding the Vista path.

Much appreciated.
