Yep, same problem here.

Re: Add support for windows 10

That is exactly why beta software is not supported.  It would be an expensive proposition to continually chase after new builds of Windows 10 (which will not be officially released until sometime next summer) with Norton version updates.

Re: Add support for windows 10

I'm sorry, but this is no argument in my eyes. Symantec has to make it capable for all OSs as soon as possible - especially for public betas. I pay annual license fees for NS and I can expect this to be a service. It's their duty cause they even have to make it work on Win10 until its final release and it cannot be in their mind to offer a security risk at launching date. Other security software providers are also able to offer capable software for early builds right from the start and I don't think that Symantec can afford a decrease of customer figures only because their customers are forced to download competing security software to be secure against any kind of threat.

Re: Add support for windows 10

Hello

You will find that many security programs will not work with some of the builds. Those that do install is probably just luck and most likely won't work properly until the release of windows 10. Most likely the ones that work for windows 10 now weren't made for windows 10, but just happen to work. There are a lot of programs most likely out there that work . I just looked at a forum of people looking for a security program for windows 10.  It was full of people saying this one worked and that one didn't work. One person said brand x worked, the next person says brand x doesn't work.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit NSBU 22.17.0.183 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Windows 10 is still prerelease software.  That has a specific meaning and Microsoft is very clear about this:  "Unexpected PC crashes could damage or even delete your files, so you should back up everything. Some printers and other hardware might not work, and some software might not install or work correctly, including antivirus or security programs. You might also have trouble connecting to home or corporate networks."

In other words, these sorts of things are real possibilities and you accept these risks when you install Windows 10 at this point.  Symantec is not obligated to support all operating systems, and there are many that are not supported.  Beta test software is never supported (they certainly aren't going to risk breaking something in supported operating systems for the sake of maintaining compatibility with every new build of Windows 10).

Warning - Do NOT use Norton with Windows 10

https://www.tenforums.com/antivirus-firewalls-system-security/

That thread goes back to January 2015 ....  3 whole months ago and it contains gems like this:

Norton was a joke long before W10 was even THOUGHT OF. !! You don't need ANY A/V on W10 other than the built in Windows defender.

 and

Windows code is proprietary so AV designers either have to rely on "Dis-assembly" or "Reverse engineer" the code or rely on Ms to publish the appropriate (if any) API's.

both from the same person.

There are sensible comments from LJ Miller in the thread but I certainly would not have referenced that thread as something to guide others here. After all Microsoft and Norton themselves tell people not to use the present issues of Windows 10 as other than what Microsoft says it is -- a Preview of things to come -- and Norton clearly states that it does not release software for use until after the final RTM by the source.

Yeah, I knew you wouldn't reference that Thread and the comments by hkgebriellee, LMiller, Layback Bear & RolandJS were germane to this Thread and echoed Microsoft and Norton sentiments.  Along with posting the link to WindowsTen Forums for W10 users.   Seems, I added information and you repeated information....

Microsoft seems to have fixed the problem in build 1049. it is working again for me.

Re: Add support for windows 10

Riiiiiight. Only in Windows 10 TP 10049... VPN software has been 'broken' by the update, and TAP Drivers are not being installed correctly, due to Registry changes.

Once more people learn... Preview.. MEANS Preview. Not, "OMG!! Microsloft released a new version of Windows 10... so it MUST be perfect! FIX Norton NOW!!"  ;)
