Added My Wife's Laptop to My N360 - Should I regester Her

My wife got a laptop (Winsdow 8) for Xmas and I downloaded 1 of the 3 N360 downoads from my Account.  The download was successfull, even the McAfee uninstall. I have the orginal download on my desktop (XP) and still have 1 spare.  I typicaly log into Identity Safe when I log on my desktop.

I used my User Name/Password and Indentify Safe Vault Password on her laptop and was able to get to my passwords.

I want my wife to have her own passwords on her laptop.

Question 1,  What is the best way to do this???   Do I need to establish a new User Name/Password and Vault Password on her laptop??

Question 2,  If we set a seperate username/passwor d for her.  Will I stil beable to login on to my Identity Safe user name/password on her laptop, assuming she is not logged in.

TIA

John

Hi,

The Identity Safe username and password are tied to your MyNortonAccount. I do not think you will be able to establish a separate vault for your wife directly. If 360 will allow it you might try downloading the stand alone version of Identity Safe and if it will install let her use that.

Re: Added My Wife's Laptop to My N360 - Should I regester Her

Hi John,

Yes, you can use different Identity Safe Logins on the same machine if you are using the online vault.

To do this, each person must have (or create) their own Norton Account and ID Safe Vault.

The online vault requires both the Norton Account login information and the vault password to open Identity Safe.

The Norton account when used in this way is not related to the installed product nor does your wife need to have a product registered in her name to set up a Norton Account for this use.

Here is a link to some ID Safe FAQs: https://identitysafe.norton.com/faq

I hope that helps.

Re: Added My Wife's Laptop to My N360 - Should I regester Her

Hi John,

If I may add a bit more info in regards to this topic - primarily for others who may be looking for answers:

- As dickevans stated:  "The Identity Safe username and password are tied to your MyNortonAccount" This statement concerns the Online vault.  For those who happen to have a Local Vault, the vault is tied to the Windows User account, not he Norton Account.  This means each Windows User on a system can have their own ID Safe Vault and the passwords can be different and are not synced with each other.

-  The ID safe  Stand Alone version can not be installed on a system that has N 360 or NIS installed on it as those programs  have the ID Safe function included in their UI.

- In regards to John's second question - Yes, you will be able to log into your vault on her system.
