Adding a new keycode to existing subscription

I purchased another keycode from Amazon (less $$ than auto renew), my subscription runs out in 42 days. Last year when I entered the new keycode, it started a new account instead of adding a year to my current subscription. I don't know if I messed up - Is there a way to add the new keycode to my current account?
I didn't want to lose the time so I chatted with customer service last year and they added the time, but still, would rather not have to go that route. I can't remember for certain but I think it meant changing passwords on the devices covered as it might have been the new account that was kept not the current one.
Thanks for the help.
My subscription is Norton 360 - 5 license.
edit: I posted in this sub forum by mistake, posted in the correct sub Subscriptions with a link to this post. Moderator - sorry for any problems.

You did not really do anything wrong last year. When you enter a new product key it does get registered as a second subscription. It does not get added to the existing subscription. This is because Norton has no way to know whether this is a renewal or if you just needed another subscription to cover additional devices.
Contacting Support and asking them to add the new subscription key's time to the existing time is the best way to handle the situation. Plus you do not have to worry about losing the key before you would need it.
