Ads by provider

Has anyone had the unfortunate opportunity to suffer with 'ads by provider' ads popping up?  If not, get on your knees and thank whoever you need to thank!!  In the mean time I am looking for a solution to rid my machine of it.  I have windows 10..

Thanks in advance

Re: Ads by provider

Are you talking about within the Norton product itself or ones coming up in you Windows installation or Browser? These latter are often signs of an infection or merely PUPS -- Potentially Unwanted Programs that can get there when you install products from some download sites ....

Re: Ads by provider

Comes up in my browser, mostly the new internet explorer, Edge.   I kind of expected Norton to catch it, or at least have a handy dandy fix for it.  From what I have read it may be a real bugger to get rid of.

Re: Ads by provider

I don't think any of us have much experience of Edge and Norton (and others) do say some of their product eg the Toolbar does not work with it yet.

Unless you think you are infected with Malware, for which the nature of the popups might clarify, I would be inclined to run the free version of Malwarebytes which is good at detecting and removing these "additions".

Just make sure that you click on the lefthand button at the bottom of the page and get the free version and not the free trial of the professional version which contains interactive features that might interfere with your Norton product although users differ on this.

For PUPs and other similar "foreigners" the free version is all you need.

Hang on for some further advice if you are in doubt.
