After rebooting, I had to login to my Norton account before opening the Vault

After rebooting yesterday, when I clicked on the 'Vault Closed' tab on the Norton toolbar I was asked to login to my Norton Account. Only then was I asked to enter my Vault password.

This has never happened since my initial setup of my online vault many months ago. To see if this was a fluke, I rebooted my other PC and the same thing happened. Prior to rebooting the second PC, I noticed that the Vault was already closed on that PC, and when I tried to open it, I entered my Vault password but the "Vault is opening" message just sat there and spun.

looking at the board, the only thing I see that might be related is the release of the patch for Firefox 26. Are the symptoms I experienced related to that patch, or is it something else?

I am running Norton 260 21.1.0.18 with Norton Vulnerability Protection 12.0.4.5-1 and Norton Toolbar 2014.6.2.3, although since I just checked the levels of the add-ons in preparation for writing this post, I have no idea as to whether the patch was installed before or after I experenced the problem I described above. No one has ever been able to explain to me how to go through the multiple per/day LiveUpdate entries to locate a specific update.

Re: After rebooting, I had to login to my Norton account before opening the Vault

Hi tngordo,

Yes, you should stay logged into your Norton Account through a reboot.  A Pacth being applied - via Apply Now button or via a restart may cause your Vault to clos e- I donltknow I have never padi attention to it - will try to remember to check that it in the future.  I have seen times when my Vault has closed, but for the most part I still use the Local Vault.  Yes I am one of the users who have both still available - I do that for troubleshooting purposes on this forum.

Now in regards to finding out when you got the Add-on update for FF 26.  In N 360, select TASKS from the main page > Check Security History > select the down arrow at the right hand end of the Recnet History box and then scroll down to LIveUpdate on the menu that drops down.  select it.  Then you can double click on any of the LiveUpdate Entries and that entry will open and display information abut the LiveUpdate session.  You will see a +in a box y the Total Updates Applied - click on this and it will list the Updates that were included in that LiveUpdate session.

On my system, I received the patch on Dec 9th - the following image will show what it will look like.

Hope that helps!

It is possible that there was some temporary issue with your connection to the Norton Account server as you started your computers. This could have been a result of an update to Windows or your Norton product that could affect your internet access temporarily.

Does this still happen after another reboot?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

usually when I reboot I have to log into my vault.I always thought that was a safety feature when you reboot it logs you out. I dont really like to keep logiing into my vault but its no big deal to me

Hi,blue50moon. I don't use Identity Safe but you can in Settings/Security, set the option to Automatically open my vault when Windows starts.

The option is there, but I think using the login is better security wise.

Just to avoid any confusion - the option to Automatically open your vault when windows starts is only available if you are using a Local Vault.

If you are using an Online Vault that option is not available.
