Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

Began Using Core router again. Reset everything. Now, 8 days later, the Alerts/activity feed has stopped updating. I have experienced this before. If I change a core router setting, I see NO confirmation in the activity feed that the change has occurred. I can scroll backward in the activity feed to the day reinstalled the core router (Jan 14). But since Jan 22, no new entries in the activity feed. Is there a fix for this? Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

Hello again TheBearToo. Pause a device briefly and see if it appear in the activity feed. Mine is working as it should.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

Hello

I have no new entries in my Activity Feed since Jan. 17. That was the day I got firmware 226 and also the day I went back to Core DNS. Nothing new since then for me. I just use my mouse to move the entries up and down..

I paused a device on my network with the Core app on my android phone. There was not entry in the activity feed.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

Just to see if the problem would be fixed I uninstalled the Norton Core android app. Rebooted my android phone. Reinstalled the Norton Core android app. The activity feed is still not updating. However, my Norton Core android app not reports it's version as 1.29. And my Core firmware is version 180105_226.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

Indeed my Android app upgraded to version 1.29 overnight. Core firmware is version 266, both are current. Notifications and alerts on my end are normal. This is more than likely not what you'd prefer to hear, but. The only possible solution I can come up with is a factory reset. When doing so remove the Core from your account and begin fresh as if it was new. That should wipe all your data from the cloud. Just make sure that if you want to reuse your current passcodes to jot them down before doing so. You should then get CLEAN data since something has obviously become corrupted on the core firmware at some point. However this would be your choice and only my suggestion. Doing factory restores at the point in the life of Core shouldn't be something anyone has to do. However I am stumped since we obviously cannot delete data from the Core.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

Hello

I use the same finger to move my mouse wheel as I use to move the Activity Feed. I just slide the Feed up and down like I would a mouse wheel. The last notice was when I changed the DNS servers. No mention of today's new App 1.29. I found that in the About section.

I use my computer so much more than my phone

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

I have reset the core router numerous time in the past months since it came out. I stopped using it for a while when the DNS issues caused too many internet stoppages.. I just re-set it up again from scratch. So jan 14 to jan 22 is 8 days. On jan 22 the activity feed stopped updating. I can't see that I should have to reset this thing every 8 days. If it is indeed corrupt firmware, then they need to figure out why it is becoming corrupted and provide us a way to renew the firmware without totally wiping out our setting information.

My netgear router allows me to export the configuration and import it back into the router.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

I currently have 320 "threats blocked". Is it possible that the memory allocated in the core for the activity feed is filling up? Any one know if the activity feed is kept in the Core hardware or on the Norton servers?
Kudos0

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

I currently have 234 "threats blocked" and I don't have an issue with the activity feed.  Although, I did have something strange happen when I went into my Core app the activity feed was empty.  I went into it again later and all my activity was back, so it could be possible that the activity feedis kept on the Norton servers.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

TheBearToo I would say activity are saved in the cloud since it all comes back when you do a factory reset. My activity feed won't show anything for a couple days unless something noteworthy happens like a site getting blocked or some coin mining link within some news feed on the mobile. My last entry was Jan 25th and was from my mobile, an ad that was blocked. In that respect I'd say no news is good news in a sense.

Still no updates to the activity feed. I did get a notification (notification tab) yesterday saying a site was blocked. I answered "block it". My threats blocked number on the app home page continues to increase. Just no new entries in the activity list.

I submitted logs from my android app.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

TheBearToo Nothing is showing my my "Alerts" section either except in activity feed. Notifications is empty as it had been for ages. Activity feed won't update UNLESS Core detects one of the devices on the network as opening a site with something deemed malicious or a parental control setting was violated. What you are seeing I believe to be normal as it is in par with what I am seeing as well.

Perhaps I didn't explain it clearly. My notifications is empty also. As it should be most of the time. My Activity Feed has not had any NEW entries since Jan 22. There HAVE been threats because the threat number has increased and I HAVE changed settings several times, but NO new entries in my activity feed. Does that make sense?

TheBearToo I will drop the link to this thread for the Core Admin to have a look, hopefully get it to the Norton team for a review. In the meantime please open your app to the activity feed and shake your phone for the send logs dialog. In the dialog please add: the link to this thread, your core serial number, your forums username, and description of the issue you are having. My activity feed has updated since my last post so there is something the team should be looking at through your logs.

Nothing as of today. The dev team is looking into it was the last word I have. I have the same issue but its nothing I am overly concerned with. Most likely we won't see this corrected until the next firmware and/or app release. When that will take place is anyone's guess. Sorry I don't have more to give for feedback.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

I am still not seeing any NEW alerts since Jan 22. I am seeing the Threats number going up. Again I ask, can anyone verify with the Devs whether they are actively working on this? I would really like to know what these new threats (indicated by the threat number going up) are? As far as I know, that information is only available in the Alerts screen. And again I see no NEW alerts since jan22.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

firmware *.229 was applied automatically to my Norton Core. I did NOT get a notification in the "notification section" and I did NOT get an entry in the "alerts section". I DID try installing the core app on a different phone. It made NO difference. I am convinced that the alerts are kept on the local Norton Core router hardware and the memory allotted is simply filling up and not purging old entries. In any event THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

TheBearToo I haven't seen any reports of others having an issue of this sort around the forums. My notifications area is empty as well, there was a notification and an entry remains in the activity feed that firmware updated to 229. Once I acknowledged it in alerts it then moved to the activity feed. Another thing to note is if a specific threat for a specific device is redetected there will be a number I ( ) beside the threat name where the number will change to show the addition. I still don't have anything to pass along from the dev team as of today.

this user (RCCC) seemed to be having a similar issue. Not sure if it was actually the same. In any event, it appears there is no incentive on the Norton side to fix this for me. What do you suggest. I need to get this fixed. Perhaps my Core Hardware is defective and I need to exchange it for a new device? Will Norton do that?

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

Here is what my Android app shows: Under Alerts if I move over to the "Notifications" there isn't anything there since once viewed and the appropriate action taken the entry moves over to the "Activity Feed". This is where the listing of all your notifications will reside. Under activity feed tapping the entry where core firmware updated it opens under alerts and give the date/time. This is the way my app has been from the beginning of ownership with Core.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

TheBearToo the dates go back to December 24th 2017. Which was the last time I factory reset due to the DNS issues over the holidays. Funny thing now is that my Core went offline yesterday morning and nothing was in the notification area, however the statement core was connected to another router that is routing traffic was in the activity feed, having moved there on its own. My gut feeling again is cloud services are FUBAR, Norton has a bad habit of just allowing us to remain in the dark.

Hello

I received firmware 237 some time over night today, Saturday, but still no new Activity Feed since Feb20. The new firmware did not fix this issue for probably all  or almost  all Android Phones.

This Thread was started the 3rd week in Jan. Now it is the end of the first week of April. Isn't this long enough to have suffered with this defect? I surely hope that these issues will be fixed prior to the introduction of any new features on the Core.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

All:  New features coming to Core? Not anytime soon if ever. Actually the last firmware update to version 237 wiped what little data that was in my Alerts, over in the "Notifications" area. The "Activity Feed" is still retaining its data. Funny how my MEmu emulator shows the activity yet the actual app does not. Even the firmware update didn't show in notifications, just went straight to the activity feed. As stated, we are now in the month of April, these small issues are way past being past due for remediation.

Summing things up: I'm in the process of removing Core from my network and repackaging until Norton gives the attention to these basic small issues. And gives us at least, some basic manual removal control for devices previously seen on the network, as well as devices I sold ages ago still impacting my score by showing up on another list as not having Norton security installed when they are no longer on the premises. Resetting the Core to factory will remove all the old devices yet as I continue running my repair business it will only populate again.

Could the emulator be causing the problems with the activity feed?  Is anybody having problems with the activity feed and not using any emulators.

Re: Alerts/Activity Feed Not Updating

MannyT My "Alert" which are in the right column in the Notifications page is the issue. Activity feed data remains and is updated. The emulator shows current alerts, the app doesn't. This alerts issue was happening well before the install of my emulator and therefore isn't the cause of the alerts data not showing.

Hello

I have the Activity Feed problem since Feb.20. I get Firmware updates, but even they are not noticed by the Activity Feed, I can see 237 in the About section only. I'm hoping that the Firmware are actually installed and not just listed in About. I have sent in Logs and have asked the question if the Firmware is actually installed, but no answer from Symantec.

Since Feb 20, I got a new Samsung S8 Android phone. That didn't make any difference with the Activity Feed. The only thing it did was to  enter another item into the unused area of devices. I don't remember just how long I have the new phone. Not only my new phone, but my 2 sons old phones are listed.
