All Google searches being 'redirected' by Norton

Hi there,

I'm running on an HP laptop w/Win 10 Home and Norton 360, w/MalwareBytes in addition.

All has been running great until about a week ago when now anything that I try to search for in Google is being redirected to a red popup screen talking about: Malicious site and talking about 'https :// mukerdrumer . com/metric /?wi d=52782.

This happens for anything I try to search for.  I did not have this problem at all prior to a week ago.

No new software or changes to my system have taken effect.

I have run both a quick and full scan on Norton as well as on MalwareBytes side.

Both come back with not problems or detections.

Norton 360 ver is 22.22.7.14

Thank you,

Malicious Site Blocked! = Norton Safe Web Intrusion Protection System (IPS) block

IPS plays a critical role in filling holes created by bugs in operating systems, browsers and applications.  IPS detects and helps stop exploitations of security vulnerabilities.
IPS has been a part of Norton Device Security solutions for some time, but now that it is also a part of the Norton Safe Web browser extension, the content of suspicious web pages, advertisements and popups are now cross-examined in an additional way, giving you even more protection when you browse the Web.

Remove unwanted pop-ups or site redirects

This problem can be caused due to a browser hijacker. A browser hijacker is a type of malware that is designed to change your browser's settings. You may experience any of the following behaviors:

  • Your search is getting redirected to different websites

  • Your homepage or search engine is changed without your permission

  • Webpages load slowly

  • You see multiple toolbars on your web browser which you did not install

  • You get multiple pop-up alerts for advertisements

Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware
If you're seeing some of these problems with Chrome, you might have unwanted software or malware installed on your computer:

  • Pop-up ads and new tabs that won't go away
  • Your Chrome homepage or search engine keeps changing without your permission
  • Unwanted Chrome extensions or toolbars keep coming back
  • Your browsing is hijacked, and redirects to unfamiliar pages or ads
  • Alerts about a virus or an infected device
