Android Apps

I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or whether I haven't set up Norton Password Manager correctly on my phone; it works perfectly with any websites I visit, but not with apps...

NPM is set as the default password manager on my Samsung, overriding the Android password manager.

When I launch an app that uses an account (and for which I have username/passwords stored in NPM), I get the prompt to open NPM, but then I receive a 'No Logins Stored' message. But, if I visit the website for the app provider (for example, Waitrose) using any of the browsers on my phone (Samsung browser, Chrome and Google), it works perfectly. Does NPM not recognise the prompts from standalone apps, just from websites?

Re: Android Apps

Hi Sgt912, In my experience, although I do not get the message 'No Logins Stored', I have found that the Majority ( if not all) 'apps' do not automatically allow NPW to complete the login information so I have to type the Username/Password manually. Even when the NPM 'appears' to enter the login information, I have found that this is not accepted by the app. This is obviously very inconvenient as you have to have the Username/Password written down in order to log into an app - but it is what it is, I guess.

Otherwise than that the NPM works OK in the Browser.

I don't know if this experience is the norm, or if anyone else has any answers on how to fix  the app anomolies, but that is my two-penny worth.

Re: Android Apps

NP sgt912  - Just out of interest, I did Google this and found one 'alleged' solution (unfortunately did not work on my Samsung, but you could try if you wish).

Swipe Down from top of your Phone

Click the 'Cog' Icon (top Right Hand corner) - then select Settings

Scroll Down and click on  General Management

Select Passwords & Autofill

See if Norton Password Manager is listed and hit selection Box.

I will update if I find it does work on some Apps, but so far, no luck - But good luck to you

Re: Android Apps

Hi again,

I checked all of that and it is set under the autofill services, but not under passwords; nor could I set it there as the Samsung Password app seems to have total power over it. :-(

Thanks again though. If I find a way around it, I'll also update this

Re: Android Apps

The app logins only work for apps that Norton has added to the Norton Password Manager, NPM, app. Users cannot store their own logins for apps not supported.

Generally the supported apps are for social media sites and many financial institutions in the US. What apps are you trying to log into using NPM?
