Android Update? And other stuff

In response to my previous message about the 'Unknown Category on Android' I was told that an update fixing the issue would be released over the summer. We're well into the summer now. Any news on the timescales? I'd have asked this question there but the thread seems to have been closed (at least the reply button was disabled).

While I'm here: I'm having real difficulties with NF on my Win 7x64 machine. The Chrome extension seems to time out (possibly due to my flaky Internet connection), finally tells me it has stopped working and only after that is it possible for me to access the net at all. Problem is that although sites seem to continue to be blocked after that the extension soon restarts itself (on next start of the browser or earlier) and then I have to repeat the process. Can I get rid of the extension permanently in adult mode (how?), and if I do will sites continue to be blocked?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Android Update? And other stuff

Hi SteveLovell,

On the Windows 7 machine, you said "Chrome extension seems to time out", can you please explain what you see, that tells you the extension seems to time out?  Do you see any error message?  Please also let me know

What happens if you use other browser like IE or Firefox?

What security product(s) you have on the machine?

For Android update, we are currently working on the release.

Thanks

Katie

Re: Android Update? And other stuff

Thanks Katie,

After grumbling about this so long and not knowing what to do, I went to replicate the issue so I could give you a fuller description. In the process I saw that Chrome spent quite a while 'waiting for cache'. Having cleared Chrome's cache everything is behaving much better.

If that turns out to be unrelated and my issues return I'll come back and give you the details. In case it's useful,  this with nothing other than Norton 360 (unless you count the Dashlane pw manager).  The built-in Windows stuff has all been disabled by Norton. Other browsers were happier,  I just can't bring myself to use them (especially IE).

Re: Android Update? And other stuff

Hi SteveLovell,

Thanks for the update.  Sure, please let me know if you experience the issue again in the future.

Many of the questions I ask users in the forum is trying to narrow down what is causing the issue (For example asking you if you see the same issue with IE or Firefox), so when the development team starts to work on the potential issue, we can reproduce this with a better successful rate (at lease I hope so).   Thanks for explaining why you use Chrome.

Thanks

Katie

Thanks Katie
