Annoying screen icon since upgrade to Android 12

Since upgrading to Android 12 I now have an annoying small icon that clings to the edges of my screen and doesn't do anything when I click on it. I can make it half disappear by dragging it 1/2 way off the screen, but it won't go away. I assume that this is the indicator that Norton is running, that used to be attached to the status bar at the top of the screen, but Android 12 seems to have taken the away the user's ability to customize the status bar in 12 and now the icon just "floats" around on the screen edges looking for a home. Anywhere I put it on me screen it gets in the way of some other item (menu bar, settings gear, send button, status indicator, etc.). Can't it just be removed, or made invisible since it now can't attach to the status bar?

Errr, minor correction!  

Yes it seems that it works for all Norton Apps, but I've noticed that Nova for example doesn't offer the option, so it will be "some" Apps

This is my first exposure to anything Android 12. So I have no knowledge about any new settings. Have you looked in the Android settings for the Notifications? Try turning off notifications for 360 to see if that icon disappears.

There are three notification apps in the "App notifications" settings... 'Norton 360', 'Norton App Lock', and 'Norton Clean'. All three are off, and I turned Enhanced notifications off too... all to no effect. Still there, still annoying, still can't delete it. I sometimes put it as low as I can on the right side, but it gets in the way there when I send text messages because it's right over the 'send' arrow/button so I have to move it out of the way. But, anywhere I put it on the screen it gets in the way of something and intercepts screen clicks meant for another app. Am I the only person having this problem?

What device are you using with Android 12?

I'll try to escalate your thread, unless any other users that have Android 12 running have any ideas on this.

Google Pixel 3 smartphone, upgraded 4 or 5 days ago from Android 11 to 12.

I have the same issue on Pixel 4A. Would really appreciate any suggestions how to solve it

On my Pixel 5 after the Android 12 update, the annoying icon appeared on my home screen and no settings change would remove it. I uninstalled Norton on my phone then immediately reinstalled it. That worked and didn't affect the device count. Just make sure you have your account and login info handy before you do this. Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks for posting this 'solution'. Please monitor for a few days in case it comes back next time Norton sends a notification.

It returned in my device after update. But there is a simple option to remove it . Go to: accessibility settings/ norton 360 services and disable norton 360 service shortcut.

Disabling the Accessibility service might clear the icon, but it will also affect the operation of your 360 product. Although this finding might help Norton to understand what is happening.

The warning about turning off the Service is good.  But perhaps the previous poster meant you to turn off the "Norton 360 Service shortcut" which has a separate "toggle" on the Android (12) Accessibility Screen.  And turning this off worked for me (without the danger alluded to above) 

In fact all Apps seem to have two "toggles".
