Another problems waiting to happen?

I just installed a Lorex DV916 CCTV security system. The package offers “cloud” storage and remote smartphone alerts or viewing of each of my 16 installed HD CCTV cameras. The DV916 is hardwired to my AT&T Uverse router, which is also attached to my PC for communications over the internet.  My wife wants the Lorex corresponding smartphone app, which will allow remote viewing through the internet, including motion detection alerts from the Lorex DV916. This access seems to provide another “door” for hackers, malware, etc.  Is Norton aware of this potential problem, or are my concerns not needed? Lorex technicians can now access my IP address. They needed this information to load the latest DV916 latest software. Is this a concern?

Re: Another problems waiting to happen?

As long as you change any default passwords for accessing your cameras or dvr, you should be safe. Even if the technicians know your IP, they still need the password to get into your system.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
