Antivirus scan stops on a random number of files

The antivirus full scan on my Mac stops at a random number of files. It appears to be scanning, but it does not advance the total file number. I have already uninstalled and re-installed Norton 360 with LifeLock. My Mac has OS Catalina v10.15.7.  Any ideas?

Yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I guess the 3rd time was the charm as the full scan completed, and has been okay. Knock on wood.
