Apple IOS Apps won't update

After installing our Core and connecting devices to the new network, none of our Apple IOS Apps will reliably update from the App Store on iPads or iPhones. If I disable packet inspection it will work, or if I try many many times an app may update. If I disconnect the device from the core and use cellular data or another network they are fine. Support was not able to provide a solution. Aside from this, we are not having any other issues.

Not seeing any other mentions on the forums makes me think this is isolated. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

@Tony A.

nicainnva  found a solution from Norton Support. See this post.    https://community.norton.com/en/comment/7606391#comment-7606391

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Apple IOS Apps won't update

I have the same issue.  The Norton Core app under activity feed advises that " Malicious site 151.205.0.xxx was blocked on device Ipad"  Tech support suggested changing the DNS and that was unsuccessful.  I am running Norton Core app 1.18.

Re: Apple IOS Apps won't update

I'm also still experiencing this issue after trying the above. I've also finally just defaulted to leaving my ISP's DNS on and it still occurs even with that.

Tony A. Are your devices set under "shared devices" in settings?

Jmiller25130 Is it possible for you in the app under "Security" then "Manage Blocked Sites" to remove that notification?

ambrobx1 Change your DNS values back to the default then power cycle (not reset) your core, let us know if that helped.

Cheers

Re: Apple IOS Apps won't update

Currently, I am able to download ios apps after working with Norton Core Technical support.  Before getting the latest Norton Core firmware update (170927_191), the only way I could download app updates and apps was to turn network inspection off.  After that update and using the ISP's DNS, the ios apps update.  It may take one or two tries but that is an improvement.

Re: Apple IOS Apps won't update

I did what you recommended, switched to ISP DNS, power cycled the router and it still doesn’t work. It takes 2-3 attempts for each application so it is a big nuisance.

Re: Apple IOS Apps won't update

It is a nuisance but better than before.  If you haven't called Norton Core tech support, you should to let them know so they keep on top of this issue.  Did you know if you are in the Norton Core app and shake the phone, it will ask you if you want to send your Norton Core logs to Norton for review.

Re: Apple IOS Apps won't update

All: You can "shake" the phone you have the Core app installed on for 2-3 seconds and a window will appear to send logs from the Core. There will be a "comments" area where  you should enter your forums user name, your Core router serial number and description of what the issues are that you are experiencing.

Re: Apple IOS Apps won't update

I have also had this problem with multiple IOS device in my house. Also. I could not connect to Netflix and some of my cloud based game apps failed. My solution was to change the DNS from the default Norton DNS to Google DNS and voila! Connectivity!

Please give this simple step a shot if you are having any kind of connectivity issues.
