are there settings for backup in 360. Every single thing in my files is being copied and it's not necessary. Is there a way to indicate what I want saved and to exclude a lot of things

i don't want every single thing in my files to be copied. Is there a setting for back up files to address this. I wasn't able to find settings for the back up to the cloud. Thanks

Open My Norton for My Norton window
Open Norton 360 for Classic view

Open your Norton device security product.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

In the Norton product main window, click Settings.

Norton is providing an example (recommendation).  You may include/exclude those items.  They'll take up space.  I'll remove those items from the list and create new sets with my backup preferences.  Cloud Backup is for user created personal files.  Norton lets you back up different file types, like picture, music, or video files, to your backup sets.   Backup Set DefaultSet is an example (suggestion - starting point).  You may add or exclude files and folders.  You may create new set/s.

for example: my backup preferences

Cloud Backup stores and protect important files and documents as a preventative measure to data loss due to hard drive failures, stolen devices and even ransomware.
Cloud Backup backs up personal files.
Cloud Backup does not create - store System Image Backups.
Cloud Backup is not a disk imaging solution.

Re: are there settings for backup in 360. Every single thing in my files is being copied and it's not necessary. Is there a way to indicate what I want saved and to exclude a lot of things

for example:  you may create a new Backup Set "Test".
Use this list to INCLUDE or EXCLUDE files and folders from your new Backup Set "Test".

You may work from or modify the provided list.
You may Include Files and Folders of your choosing.
You may Remove one or all from the provided list and or create your own list.
The provided list is an example starting point.
X box to Remove that item from the list with that Backup Set.
Use the provided list or create your own backup set list.
You may create Backup Sets and INCLUDE or EXCLUDE files and folders for your created backup set....to your preference.
You may "Remove from list"... one or all items
for example: Excluded and Included items for created Backup Set: "Test"

for example: from empty list:
You may Include Files and Folders to your preference for Backup Set: "Test"
You may Exclude Files and Folders to your preference for Backup Set: "Test"
Use the list that you create to INCLUDE or EXCLUDE files and folders for the Backup Set "Test".

Re: are there settings for backup in 360. Every single thing in my files is being copied and it's not necessary. Is there a way to indicate what I want saved and to exclude a lot of things

ADD OR EXCLUDE FILES AND FOLDERS IN BACKUP SET

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton product main window, double-click Backup, and then click Backup Sets.

  3. In the Backup Settings window, in the Backup Set drop-down list, select the backup set that you want to configure.

  4. On the What tab, click Add or exclude files or folders.

  5. In the window that appears, do the following:

    • To add a file to the backup set, click Include File and navigate to the file you want to add.

    • To add a folder to the backup set, click Include Folder and navigate to the folder you want to add.

    • To remove a file from the backup set, click Exclude File and navigate to the file you want to remove.

    • To remove a folder from the backup set, click Exclude Folder and navigate to the folder you want to remove.

  6. In the Backup Settings window, click Save Settings.

You can also right-click a file or folder and select Norton 360 > Add to Backup/Exclude from Backup from the shortcut menu.

The Add to Backup and Exclude from Backup options appear in the shortcut menu only after you configure your backup and when the Backup Settings and the Restore Files windows are closed.
