ASK and Facebook !!! : Please didn't Symantec learn anything last time ??

So: back to default ASK search and Facebook share.

Truly I cant believe you would treat your customer base like this.

Seriously..

you want face book or ASK: go get it.

Just not in MY NIS  and  ABSOLUTELY NOT BY DEFAULT

I am not happy and it appears that Symantec has gone back on it's own promise:

You spoke up, Symantec changed the Norton Toolbar

http://securitywatch.pcmag.com/security-software/284709-you-spoke-up-symantec-changed-the-norton-toolbar

From Rowan Trollope at that time

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Safe-Search-update/m-p/77868?jump=true

Liar Liar Pants on fire.

Non consented installation of 3rd party software as default: really really bad.

Now fix it please.

Seriously.

Credibility, Corporate Governance, Trust: on the line ... again.

Never had to be..

Regards

Hi,

Sorry for the issue you are facing. Thanks for reporting the issue, We are able to reproduce this  issue and tracking with a defect.

To change default search, In chrome->Settings->Search->Manage search engine-> Set  your favorite search engine from the manage search engine list  as default.

Thanks,

Senthil

Hi Senthil,

Thanks for the heads up on the defect tracking on the default install of ASK.  BUT, you do not address the issue of the outrageous default install of a Facebook Share icon on the NIS tool bar.

What is this about.  How dare Symantec default install any links that connect outside Symantec.  This is a clear breach of trust for a security program.  Additionally, I might expect such behavior in a free ware program not in a security program that I have paid for.  The insult is compounded by the inability to disable that share icon.  And, I repeat...  Disable...  Not just hide.

I am shocked and dismayed by this dilution and breach of trust.

Hello BartCann,

I'm not Symantec, but I can say that there will be an option to disable the share button in the Norton 2013 products:
