after several iterations to fix Auto-Protect greyed without asterisk

3) turn On all Advanced switches and turn On Norton Product Tamper Protection.

Auto-Protect greyed &/or Advanced Auto-Protect greyed w/wo asterisk

1) greyed with asterisk usually clears with restart.

2) when greyed without asterisk remains after restart, use A or B


A)
1) Turn Off Norton Product Tamper Protection.
2) Turn Off all Advanced view switches.
3) Restart
4) Turn On all Advanced view switches.
5) Turn On Norton Product Tamper Protection.

B)
1) Turn Off Norton Product Tamper Protection
2) Open Windows Task Manager and on the Processes tab scroll down to Norton under the Background processes category and right click on Norton and End task.
3) Wait for Norton tray Icon to disappear. 
4) Wait for Norton tray Icon to reappear automatically.
5) If no tray Icon after 30 seconds. Call Norton from shortcut.
6) Wait for Norton tray Icon to appear.
7) Check settings.
