Auto-renewal AND daily rreminder - don't want to pay twice!

I've had this problem with auto-renewal before, with another anti-virus program.

I got the note telling me the date the charge will be made, which is great. BUT 30 days out, I'm getting daily "renew now" reminders.

I presume I can ignore those, keep clicking "remind me later"? I fear if I go that way, I could get charged twice, unless I go through the hassle of turning off auto-renewal. BUT I fear if I ignore it, there'll be a hiccup and it'll expire.

What's the proper steps to go through, please?

"IGNORE" is the way to go. If you've already received confirmation about the auto-renewal, you'll be fine. Be sure to save that notification, just in case the wrong button is clicked or you opt-out of things. With confirmation numbers and reference numbers, our Customer Support Team can get a subscription issue resolved quickly. Thanks!

Re: Auto-renewal AND daily rreminder - don't want to pay twice!

Thanks, Tony. But isn't it dumb to be sending me warnings when I'm signed up for auto-renew? Ya gotta admit, it's confusing! The "Your are scheduled for automatic renewal" e-mail I got last week had no confirmation numbers etc., just told me how to opt out if I wanted to. So... I'll hold onto it, cross my fingers, let you know if I hit any trouble. (The auto-renewal date is 2 weeks before the scheduled expiration, so I SHOULD be OK....;-)

I guess the program can't see if you receive any e-mail or not ?

PS - in the daily pop-up nag-box, "ignore" is NOT an option - only "renew" and "remind me later," so it pops up again the next day.

Clearly, I'm not alone - from today's "Windows Secrets" newsletter:

Recently, a Windows Secrets editor starting seeing notices from Symantec pop up every time he booted his PC. The nag notes pointed out that he had X number of days (starting with 30) to renew his subscription to the Norton 360 security suite. The pop-ups came in bunches of five or six in quick succession, requiring that he close each one before he could continue with his work.

This went on for two weeks before he received an e-mail notice from Symantec stating that he had signed up for automatic renewals. Were the two weeks of pop-ups an attempt to double-bill a paid-up customer? Or were the bogus warnings simply an indication of Symantec not having its renewal act together? In either case, the company comes across as hostile toward its customers.

Did anyone ever come up with a solution to this issue? I am not concerned with a double billing, but I am tired of these daily reminders. I am scheduled for autorenewal in 16 days, but I have been putting up with these daily reminders for two weeks now; I don't really care to continue this cycle. Anyway to shut off the daily reminder?

Well, "solution" might be too strong a word, but once the payment went through, the nagnotes stopped. Hopefully for you, too!

So, just 16 more days til relief. I wish there were some way to express my gratitude to Symantec!

Which Norton 360 version are you using? Our team is reviewing this issue,  but we need a bit more information. If you could let me know the N360 version and your Operating System, that would be a big help. Thanks!

I apologize for the lack of response. This should not be happening - if you have signed up for Ongoing Protection (the Auto-Renewal setup), then you should not be receiving notifications through the product that you need to renew your subscription. I am working with the team to get some more information on this issue, and I should have an update soon. Thanks for your patience.

Well, I only have to endure 9 more days. Maybe your solution will be of benefit to someone later on.

A Norton 360 v2 update has just been released. Please update your system to version 2.4 by using LiveUpdate in the product, and this should resolve the problem for you. I apologize for the delay with this issue. Thanks!
