Autofix running for over 10 hours

I had some trouble keeping my Norton 360 getting LiveUpdates and I think during the time that feature wasn't working, I got some viruses and other items on my computer that I'm now trying to remove. The latest one that came up was Trojan.Knowedel and Norton suggested I run AutoFix. It's been running for over 10 hours now and I can't really tell if it's making progress and/or if it will be able to remove the item it needs to. Can someone tell me if I can expect AutoFix to finish any time soon or is the fact that it's been running this long indicative of a problem that it isn't able to fix?

Re: Autofix running for over 10 hours

As the Autofix doesn't complete, I would suggest you to restart the computer and then follow the steps mentioned in the following Symantec Support Article.

You can also try to run the scan from Norton 360 in Safe mode as it will be more effective.

Restart your computer. As soon as the computer starts, tap the F8 key about once per second until you see the Windows Advanced Options menu. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select Safe mode, and then press Enter. Log on as administrator if you have the option to do so. At the next screen, click Yes.

1. Click Start > Run.

2. In the Run dialog box, type the following text and click OK.

scanstub /scan 0

3. Restart the computer when the scan completes.
