Automatic renewal

I have just downloaded and installed Norton 360 deluxe purchased from a third party supplier as I have done for several years. I have ensured that automatic renewal is NOT activated as it has never been but I just received an email thanking me for accepting automatic even though it shows an NOT activated in my account. How can this happen??
