Awaiting Agent Backup, Waiting, waiting, waiting....

The last couple of days I've logged in to NOBU, started backup, but have never gotten past the "Awaiting Agent Backup" phase. I've waited from 30 minutes to one hour with no results.  I tried restarting my  computer, redownloading the program with no luck.  I have Windows 10.  NOBU worked ok for me when I last used it in mid July.  Has anyone found a solution for this Awaiting Agent backup issue?  Thank you

I have the same problem. Awaiting agent backup for hours! I have 2 Macs and a PC, same problem with all 3! I have contacted Norton help and the agent had no idea what to do.

Hi liberty354 and Berting.

Sorry to hear of your problems as doubly sorry to hear that the Norton staffer was not able to offer any suggestions.  Sadly neither am I but it with it being NOBU I wonder if it is some temporary server or network issue and would suggest that you try again tomorrow.  Though I have checked the Norton Service Status and all seems to be fine....

I wish you well and hope that all will be resolved but please let us know how you get on.

Still no solution. My case was moved to level 3 technical support, and I am still stuck on "awaiting agent backup".

Sadly still awaiting agent backup. Norton help senior technician said he is working on the problem and will call back, which has not happened.

Thanks Matt for offering help. I contacted Norton help, spoke to Marvin, went through all the steps including uninstalling and reinstalling etc. without any success. My case was elevated to level 3 help, contacted Ian and John and still no solution. I was told engineers were working on the site and I would be contacted in 24 hours. That was 4 days ago and no news and I am still stuck on awaiting agent backup.

I really sympathize with you guys.

It would seem that norton backup has a problem but perhaps more so with the technical support team.

I shall publish my story on a new thread. - "Where is the problem? Norton Backup or Norton ...?"

I hope Berting got his solution and thank him for spending the time to work with NOBU on the problem.  I went on vacation and came back and don't see any change yet but haven't worked with the techies yet.

I'm still waiting Berting.  On a positive note, at least the problem seems to be limited to a select few, maybe just you and I.  Norton rep contacted me and copied my program log for their engineers to dissect.  That was a week ago.  The problem became less urgent for me because the back up successfully ran twice in the background over the last two weeks.  When I try to run it myself I still see awaiting agent backup on screen but something worked behind the scenes twice.  Plus I have my DVD+RW discs and plenty of other alternatives if it comes to that; I'd just rather avoid the hassle of switching providers.

I contacted a tech, on the live chat.(after about 30 mins waiting time) He logged in to my system. reinstalled Norton Backup. said that that would solve my problem,said that a "Windows update" screwed it up. It was on "Awaiting Agent Backup" for god knows how long.(I went to bed and left it running). When I got up this morning, I had the same problem "Backed up with errors 279 files not backed up,see log for details" When I sign in and go to log it tells me nothing!!. so, I am no farther ahead then I was 24 or 48 hrs ago.

Believe it or not my last successful backup was July 8!!!!!

They uninstalled and reinstalled NOBU.  Somehow NOBU recognized a new 2nd computer link and connected well on that link.  (Kind of like a parallel universe on Star Trek).  I purged the old backup files and link and backed up everything again from scratch on the new link.  It took days to finish my 20+ GB's but success.  I ran back up a couple more times since with no problems.  I also did some long needed maintenance like disc cleanup, defrag and bought a 64 GB USB flash drive to get more with the times.  (Videos fill DVD's fast).  Hard to know the problem's exact cause but there have been many recent Windows 10 updates.  The Norton escalation contact was very nice to deal with.  I hope the others' problems are solved.

You are lucky. My NOBU has been removed and reinstalled with no success. I am still awaiting agency backup!

I am still in limbo. The problem remains unresolved. I still get stuck on "awaiting agent backup". It has been over 3 months since my online backup worked. :(

My Nobu suddenly started working perfectly a few days ago, finally after more than 3 months of awaiting agent backup!

The problem is, now can I trust it to be reliable, after being down for so long.

Hi, was this problem ever resolved?  I am a newbie to the Community, but have been using NOBU for several months without difficulty.  My backup used to take about (say) 20 minutes, but 3 weeks ago it started to become very much slower, whilst still having the same more or less the same data.  Eventually foe example, it went in fits and starts, eventually completing in about 2 hrs.   At one point nothing seemed to be happening for say 1 hour, and when I physically signed in to NOBU the status message said "Awaiting Agent Backup" .  Then again after a while it said "Transferring Data" and after several fits and starts it finally completed.   I am on Windows 10 ad there are a lot of updates, and I saw a suggestion that Windows updates seemed to be involved.

Many thanks for any reply.  If no update I will contact Norton Tech Support, but from what was said in previous replies, the agents may not know the answer!

My NOBU was down for 3 months then started working properly spontaneously. Nobody ever found the cause of the problem, and why it started to work again. The suggestion was an incompatability with my Mac OS 10.12. Because of this I stopped using it, and uninstalled it from both my Macs.

NOBU has been running smoothly for me for the past 5 months.  From my experience with Windows 10, there are times when my computer is overloaded with updating and slows down.  At least NOBU worked for you, just slowly.  Berting and I had no NOBU function at all for awhile so your problem is likely different from what ours was.  The gentleman I dealt with at Norton tech support was very helpful if it comes to that and always have a Plan B like a flash drive back up or another backup provider.

OK, thanks, that's useful information. I do have separate backups, but that's a good point.

I will contact Norton tech support, though, because I still have a few queries about the user interface, meaning of diagnostic messages etc..  Thanks again.
