Backup Disk Full

After two years of making backup using Norton 360, my very large (1.79 TB and 1.3TB)  backup disks are full.  When I a attempt a backup, I get  "There is not enough space on your backup destination.  Backup has failed." error message.  What do I do now?

Re: Backup Disk Full

After spending a lengthy bit of time chatting with a Norton support rep about this same issue and getting nowhere, I was told to delete the backup and create a new backup. Symantec either has no clue why this happens, is too befuddled to do something about it, or both. Here is the transcript of the final minutes of my December 15, 2016 chat session with the Norton support representative:

Rep:  I would request you to delete your old backup sets and create a complete new backup. That will fix the issue for you.

Me:  Can you tell me if this is a known issue with Symantec?

Rep: I apologize but this is not a known issue. So I would suggest you to delete the old one and create new one and contact us back if you face any issue again.

Re: Backup Disk Full

@Mike & Old Eagle Eye,

I' afraid you have to start from scratch this way:

  • Try moving your backups to external disk that has enough space for your files.
  • Delete those 2 backups. For detailed steps, plz read this KB.
  • And, to make the best of Norton backup space, exclude your personal stuff like docs, movies and the like > clean junk > check system for potential threats > back up when ready.
  • Erase previous backups in your own external device.

Plz read this KB for related tips (e.g., How to exclude some of the less important files and folders from your backup set.).

For more info, you may Chat with Norton Support.

Please post back if this or any other comment solves your problem. THX...
